Reapers are an own, made up species, but this is the adaptation for the roleplay:
Reapers, a hidden race, were once from a land of immortals. Their job was to control the population in their land of gods, and so they did. However, after a war between the Gods of the Sun and the Gods of the Moon along with their allies, both sides mutually agreed to banish reapers from their realm in order to keep the numbers of both armies from falling.
Without a home or a purpose as being forced into the realm of mortals, the reapers eventually found a way to blend in, changing their form. However, powers that came along, such as seeing the dead and being able to erase souls from realms, still lingered in their everyday lives. Some reapers, such as Forak, found a way to satisfy their itch for carrying out their job by instead reaping animals that none would miss.
