Actually it is. How you worded your question wasn't what I had in mind. I was thinking along the lines of Jeopardy..

Valentines Day originated from the 3rd century when the Romans executed at least 3 men, all of them named Valentine or Valentinus. The Catholic Church decided to honor the men by naming the day Saint Valentines Day.

I know! It was St Valentine and while he was killed in the 3rd century, it became a holiday in the 5th century

That is the thing hon, no one has provided me proof that it was originated in the 3rd century. If you or Book can provide me a link to where it states 3rd century then I will accept the answer. Until then I cannot.
