I feel stupid asking, but where did all the pets go? I didn't even know there was a market.

They were released.
And yea... it makes it hard to find pets for sale when the search feature works as poorly as it does.

Ah. That explains what happened!
I do see the reason for it, and as an emergency measure, do approve.
I can't wait to see the new feature that's upcoming! (I hope it contains a way to search for a specific marking...)

I am very glad you did this but also a smidge sad. I LOVE the gold and stable space (phew) wish that didn't have to be released but I am grateful you did this.
