to the 'amount of traits' question, I'd refer you to our guide to Theme Design Contests (Krin had it linked in the first post, right under the end date) where we've got pretty much everything about the contests covered. Part of the last section of the first post:

"Picking traits for your post's images (How many, which?)"

"There are many variations you can post in the thread- some people do a male and female of the same traits, some do one gender in 6-vis and one in 3-vis, some people two 3-vis, some people include no-vis.
A good plan is to have different traits between however many images of each theme that you post- obviously not a requirement, but it will let you show off more variety in your theme, presenting the ways the colours work.

The thing you want to do when you post is pick a selection of traits to display that you think works really well with your theme design; you're trying to show them off to the best of their ability, making them look good, but also show the flexibility of the design. ..."


Basically, the traits you put on the designs in the thread don't matter at all beyond showing the design's chosen colours off- even if they're picked, the designs from this thread won't exist unless someone embarks on a breeding project to make it.


(and you can't really just say "if I win I'd like X out of my designs", because the choice winners get is out of the pet themes available in the fest. Krin and Fai look through all the designs and pick out any given ones that they like- they don't go "we'll use the designs by this person"- you feel lucky if one of your designs gets chosen (and sometimes you get two or three chosen, and just about die of sheer amazement))


(Looking at some of your designs, I'd suggest thinking about things like "Why is this rain-based vene's G1 green and M2 dark red-purple", and "in this qit design that is predominantly greens and reds, why have I decided to go with with AC1 blue and G3 magenta". Making sure that all the colours match and work as part of the theme, and that there's decent enough contrast that they can be seen, is an important thought to put in.
I'd especially suggest thinking about your bulbori design further, because as it is, most of the G1's are either completely invisible or nearly so, and the G3s are only a little better, due to the low contrast. I really like the idea of them, but the execution needs work)
