The Story
300 years ago, everything fell. At first it had started with a civil war within the United States. When the country was vulnerable, it was attacked by other countries. The other countries then fell into wars against each other and themselves. A world war like no other was then created. One lasting fifty years. And within those years, an epidemic was created. A disease that at first simply caused death. When people tried to cure it, it just advanced the disease causing those with the epidemic to no longer die from it. They were able to survive, but they were no longer human. The disease lived along with its host and caused them to go ravenous. All desires that made us much different than any species of animal increased. The human desire to kill over took their entire mind. They held intelligence. But that's why they began to hide and fight back with more. Those with the disease began to get slaughtered within the wars, but the human species was already falling apart. While humans stood against humans, the entire human population was completely destroyed. Most who survived were those with the disease. The ones who no longer held fear. Not even 40% of the human population that was left was those without the disease.
Now, everything is covered in greenery. Buildings lay in ruin. The war ended hundreds of years ago and the Illireds now rein. Over half of the human population that was, is gone. Those without disease now live underground in very small civilizations with a small amount walking the surface and trying to survive by themselves or in small groups.
Which are you? The one that rules? The one that hides? Or the one that fights?

Clothing Style of Era
Starting Info
It will occur mainly in a more city like, ruined area. Water is not very hard to find as it rains a lot due to how the climate changed.
We will start the roleplay all being habitants of the same underground city(there are a few characters that don't live in a city, but we will all be in the same area). This will allow interaction between characters to come easily.

Rune slipped down a grass and moss covered beam as he made his way back to the underground city. He kept one hand secure on the single strap of his bag as he did so. He softly landed on the ground and dashed to the next place he'd have to slip through. It was a smaller crevice, but it never really affected him. He slipped through carefully into the darkness, being sure to hang onto the rock above him. He looked around until he spotted the light that emitted from the city. He crawled down from the ledge he sat upon, releasing as he got closer to the ground. He hurried to the city, knowing that his grandmother was going to have his******for being gone so long. He had been gone for four days. He finally entered the city, taking off his mask to nod at those who guarded the entrance. It was bustling with excitement as people conversed and went to shops to get rations. It I usually seemed pretty busy in the city as there wasn't a lot to be done staying here underground, but it easily shown how people had made a happy life there. A life he really couldn't imagine having himself. Being underground had become suffocating for him and he always couldn't wait until he went back out again.

The house looked abandoned, with boards covering the windows and most of the door since the glass had long since been broken. The whitefish paint that covered the outer walls was clipping away, leaving only the mildew stained grey color of the boards underneath to give the home any character. Outside there stood a lone skeleton of a large tree which had stood there longer than the home had. Now though it was just a faint echo of what it had once been, time having taken it from the world of the living. From its many dead branches hung small trinkets, suspended by yards of twine and string. Most of them were bones though a few were scrapes of humanity that came before. A small broken fence surrounded the house, unlit candles resting on the place where the gate had once stood. All was eerily quiet, not even the house daring to creak. Suddenly a light sprang up in the home, flickering against the boards and curtains that covered the windows. The man had been working diligently on another one of his projects. This one happened to be a dress, restored from a few old sheets he had scavenged up. Gorgeous jewelry covered the skirt as well as the train, shimmering as the light of the candle hit it. "Isn't it wonderful Darling?" The man asked in a near lyrical tone as he walked about the garment. The light of the candle bounced off the walls, illuminated the single table that remained standing in the room. Sections of the floor boards were missing missing, and there were stacks upon stacks of old ruined papers laying about the edges of the room. Among one of these stacks the Illired sat, cleaning himself with a hand much like a cat would. As his name was called he stopped looking up with his grey eyes. Instinctively he nodded, even though he was unable to see the garment himself. "My finest work yet! Oh how I do love when something comes together this perfectly! The only thing it's missing now is a bride to wear it." His tone changed and he sat the candle down. "Though I doubt it will ever see one. Come now Darling, we must go out again. We need to see if we can find any more of those gemstones you found the other day!" With that the man picked up a length of rope and clipped into the now excited Illired. "Darling what have I said about pulling!" With the candle in hand the man and his pet slowly exited the home. They walked the same path they always did, the one leading away from town. Town was where the bad people lived, the ones that didn't wish to help, the ones that threw things at them. But as long as they never went there they were safe. For now they would just go the opposite direction, as far as they could before they ran out of light or path to follow.

Malak stood in front of one of the shelves in his hut, tying his long hair up with his leather strip. He was studying all the jars of various herbs and roots. "Mr. Montgomery should be coming today for more foxglove. I'm just glad I made sure he really had a heart condition. I don't want to accidentally poison anyone," he muttered. He finished putting his hair up. He turned around when he heard shuffling and saw his godfather. "Drake, good to see you up and moving. Are you ready to take your dose of the day?" He asked. He smiled at his godfather, who smiled back.
"Don't worry, Malak, I'll get it myself," he replied. He coughed into a fist as he made his way over to a small cabinet he had built out of old, rotted boards. The shelves were made of old, scavenged wood, too, but they weren't rotted sorry anything.
Malak smiled as he watched Drake take his dose. He was glad the herbs seemed to be helping his godfather. He then took a seat on the cushions on the floor. He just had to wait for their first costumer of the day.

"That's odd...I could have sworn that we went the right way..." As the two walked on he found that they neared the city. Darling tensed up as he sniffed the ground, pointed ears back as he did. A low growl escaped his throats and before long he refused to move further. The faint light of the city was intriguing, it was all the man could do to stop himself from going closer. How long had it been since he had seen another human? Ever since he had killed that man, though the exact time scale seemed blurred to the point he couldn't tell. The only voice he had heard since then had been his own, and he hadn't actually held a coherent conversation even then. What were normal people like? Were they like him? The longer he gazed up at the city the more questions danced about in his head. Darling tugged on his leash, whimpering as he went to lead the way back yet his master stood there still. Just one look wouldn't hurt right? He could take Darling back to the house and leave him then come back himself. That wouldn't be that bad would it? A small smile spread over his face. "It beautiful, mysterious even! I didn't know it was this close to home Darling. Why we could walk here everyday to look at it!" The man exclaimed taking no note of who else could be around, in fact he wasn't even aware of the hut just a bit away. "Could you imagine that! We might actually see humans again!"
