Your pets have to be adults before they can breed.
Generated pets (like flame) have to be 18 days old.
Bred pets hatch at 3 days and become adults at 27 days.
If you click on the pet's profile, it will tell you if the pet is an adolescent or an adult. it will also give you their age. This information can be found in the first box of their profile titled information
