Hello.
Im pretty new here and I'm a bit confused with these proficiency points. Ive checked out the newb guides but they just make me more confused.

The guide itself says this:
"Proficiency Points
At level 5 and every 5 levels after that your pet will earn 1 Proficiency Point. Make sure to go to their profile and spend their points! This is important in making sure your pets have an easier time in battle and to be able to learn their abilities."

But I have 2 pets that are well into level 20s but they haven't recieved another point like the guide says they would. So I checked out the little question mark on the pets proficiency tab and it says something completely different than what the guide is saying.

This is the info from the proficiency tab:
"Every Pet begins with 1 Proficiency Point to spend at Level 0. Additional Proficiency Points are earned at Levels 30, 60, 65, 70, and 75 for a total of 6 spendable Proficiency Points."

Can you see my confusion?
So far both my pets i'm currently using are in level 20s but both only have gotten 1 point.
Did I mess something up? Was I supposed to check in to the pet everytime they leveled up?

And I have another question about mission logs. I get that the missions are color coordinated, but what do the succession colors stand for? I have a couple in green, 2 in black, and one in yellow/orange.
Did I fail some missions?

Sorry for such a huge post and/or if it's in the wrong place.

The proficiency system was changed fairly recent so the first bit about having points every 5 levels is no longer valid. That was how the old system worked.

The info on the proficiency tab is correct. You will not mess anything up if you miss a level. The points just hang out until you spend them. :-). Although it is best if you spend them as soon as you can on pets you are using to fight so you get the benefit right away.

As for missions, the color under mission information (the title of the mission) is related to the difficulty of the mission. Orange is the hardest, purple the next easiest...not sure on the other colors since those are the only two I typically do. The result column will tell you if you failed or were successful.

Hope that helped.

Edit: Just noticed at the bottom of the mission log it has a key showing what missions are what color.
Green: easy
Blue: medium
Purple: hard
Orange: very hard.

Yeah, as Faeyla says, they system was revamped. Any guide which refers to Proficiency points every five levels or Level Up points is out of date.
They were overhauled into the new system, where your pet gets its first point at level 0, the second at level 30, and the current third and final at level 60 (once the MegaZone update gets here, the level cap will be boosted to 75, and we've been informed that we'll have more points available at smaller level increments post-level-60.)
There's a guide here on the new system.

Faeyla covered mission difficulty levels, but we'll go into it a bit more.
Currently there are two locations where you can get missions, Esior's Haven and Sanctuary of Saerielle.
Esior's missions are lower levelled, so
Easy: you can send a lv0 pet on this mission and expect that it might pass. You'd want to set its proficiency point and equip it for the stat type of the mission for best results.
Medium: Lowest level you should send on this is a lv10
Hard: lv20
Very Hard: lv25

while Saerielle's
Easy: lv25
Medium: lv35
Hard: lv45
Very Hard: lv50

And the results can vary
Red: Failure, no reward
Yellow: Poor, you get half the base reward (I think? I can't check) and no mission satchels
Black: Satisfactory, you get the base reward and one mission satchel
Green: Exceptional, you get double the base reward and two mission satchels

There's no set cutoff point for the different levels, as such, it's sort of a bunch of grey zones blurred together; the same pet could get Exceptional sometimes and Satisfactory at others. Depends on the pets stats and a roll of the RNG. If a pet is getting exceptionals most of the time, though, you can safely assume the its points are high enough that you're out of the Failure/Poor parts of the spectrum.
(My level 60 pet that I use for the lv50 Strength missions has "Strength: 731 (17)", and generally gets us exceptionals but sometimes gets us satisfactory)
