@Site_Users,

We will be having a Diamond Sale starting Friday, August 30th at 12:00am and running until Tuesday, September 3rd at 12:00am.

Additionally, from now until the end of the Diamond Sale will be your last chance to take advantage of our bonus tiers. After the sale ends, the bonus tiers will be changing to the following:

Spend $10: Receive an extra 50 Diamonds ($0.50 value)
Spend $25: Receive an extra 200 Diamonds ($2.00 value)
Spend $50: Receive an extra 500 Diamonds ($5.00 value)
Spend $100: Receive an extra 1,500 Diamonds ($15.00 value)

Although we planned on releasing the 2nd zone of Astryl's Vale on Friday, we unfortunately have to delay that until next Friday. Our original time frame didn't include completely redesigning a new layout and new Ethernia so everything has been pushed back a bit. (Which btw, is almost complete and should be released tonight or tomorrow!)

However, we will release our 17th species on Friday and make it temporarily available in Sweet Blossom Orchard. More details will be provided on Friday.

Why? The whole reason I considerd buying diamonds was because of the decent tiers. With it changed like this I'm not sure I'll be buying any more diamonds anymore with the exceptions of sales. They are becomming to expensive for me because I have no steady income. You not afraid your going to sell less now? The more expensive the less you will sell. This is not very game friendly to the less rich who play your game....

Maybe you should consider rewarding loyal players. Lots of good online games offer payments if you are online every day of the week. If you are online every day of the week then on the last day you will get a reward which you usualy only can get trough paying.

In some places that is coins, others gold here diamonds. Maybe you could do that. PLayers that play every day will get variation of 1 to 5 diamonds every 7th day they are online. Then making the diamonds more expensive is not so bad. It will also push players to come online every day. And it is very user/player friendly. That way even those who can not afford diamonds at all can buy nice things once in a while if they have the patience to save up 1 trough 5 diamonds a week. (with bad luck 1 diamond few weeks in a row but oh well)

Excited about the new specie though

I believe the reason for this decision is because many people [myself included] hold out on buying diamonds hoping for a sale. It would help the site in the long run to steady the income, instead of having very few sales on a normal basis and then sudden spikes on the discounted diamond sales.
With this change, there is less incentive to hold out for so long for a discount if somebody wants to buy diamonds.

For the players that gain diamonds each day they play, I don't believe it is a very logical system considering the site doesn't gain advertisement revenue. [I am all for placing an advertisement banner at the bottom footer to help the site out, however.]

@Amberanime,

Well, nothing is changing in regards to the price of Diamonds. If you want to buy 1000 diamonds, it will still be $10. We are just reducing the bonus tiers. For the $10 and now $25 bonus tier, it's not really a big change. The biggest reduction is the $50 and $100 tier in which we were giving away a really ridiculous amount of money. For those who spent $100 (which we greatly appreciate when players do), we were giving them a free $30 of diamonds. I can guarantee you will find no other company anywhere in the world with a 30% bonus reward on a $100 purchase lol.

Through careful monitoring and consideration (as we do with any decision regarding Sylestia), we realized we were giving out a very high percentage of free Diamonds to players. We aren't exactly rolling in cash and are trying to find ways to improve our revenue so we can invest more into the Site. Lately, we've had to hold back on new content (like species, genes, avatar stuff) due to a lack of funds.

So I'm sorry if you disagree with the decision, but it's kind of a necessary change for the overall good of Sylestia.
