I am posting this as kind of a global summarization of everything that has transpired.

Yesterday morning, our server performed an auto update on itself. Apparently, this update contained bug(s) that wreaked havoc on many parts of our server. As time went on, it seemed more and more of these issues were being discovered.

Eventually, I took the Site down to try and get the issues fixed. Over the course of many hours, I thought it was fixed at a few intervals, but it wasn't.

The most alarming issue was that players were somehow getting assigned other player's log in sessions from the server. Once this was discovered to still be happening, I took the Site offline for good until this issue could be 100% resolved.

This ended up being about ~12 hours.

In the end, we rolled back the Site's files to a backup from a few days ago. We then adjust the database to last night at 7pm.

At this point, everything seems stable and back to normal.

I have also added extra precautions to log in authorizations so that if we encounter the same issue as before, it hopefully will just destroy the login session and no longer display other players' information.

We take account security and privacy incredibly seriously and I have been very upset and frustrated that this happened and was unfortunately pretty much out of my realm of control. I am very sorry for the issues caused by this and will do my best to take precautions so that it doesn't happen again.

For now, I have requested our Host to disable automatic updates on our server until Cpanel (the people who write the server code) can investigate and let us know exactly what happened and assure us it won't happen again.

In the meantime, if anyone experiences any further login issues where you appear as someone else or anything like that - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE immediately let me know.

And again... I am very sorry that this happened. I have been trying to get this resolved literally for the past ~20 hours or so. I hope that it is finally solved.

Yes. I'm sure we'll extend the Festival for probably an extra 7 days.

I haven't been on the site for very long, but I am very impressed with the way things were handled. We were let in the know of what was going on, and everything was dealt with accordingly and in what seems the most efficient manner possible, considering everything. Just wanted to say thank you for taking all that time to figure out and fix the problem. :)

So, does this mean that any work we've done the last few days is now gone? Such as breeding eggs, releasing pets, and buying pets?

Nope. The database was restored to what it was last night at about 7pm, which was after the Site had already been taken down to be worked on.

All that was "lost" was the brief like 15-30 minute period I brought it back up when everyone was basically logging in as other people - so I intentionally rolled back past that point in case anyone did anything to someone else's account or whatever.
