There should be 4 different ways. I can only really remember 2, sorry.
-By nurturing egglings and hatchlings
-And in the Astryl's Vale zone.

although, it is very hard to earn enough valentines to buy something when nurturing.

Once the astral's vale zone has opened up for you, battling in sweet blossom orchard or astral's tranquility will earn you valentines (fest currency). If you are currently in umbra forest, it might be best to complete the story line up to astral's vale.
