While most players like to name their pet Sylesties, it can be hard to keep coming up with names. This thread is for discussing the naming of pets. In particular, I suggest that players post their named pets and explain why each pet has its particular name. This includes pets whose names are a string of numbers and letters that indicate the pet's genetics, Theme, or ancestry. Posting about such naming schemes here could inspire others to adopt the same scheme or perhaps to improve upon it.

This fellow is one of the earliest Mossy Kelparies--
Unlike later Tagged Mossy Kelparies, his colors range from green to blue, purple, and red, because the early Themed pets had more "swing" to their colors.
At the time I bought him, I already owned two of those later Mossy Kelparies--
"Carrageenan" and "Advanced Astroculture"
The word carrageenan means a food additive that is extracted from certain seaweeds, many of which are rather mossy. The name seemed to suit the colt.
The little mare has Glowing Runes, which form spirals on her coat. It just so happens that you can get certain mosses to grow in spirals . . . all you have to do is take away the gravity. I found this out when I searched for the terms "spiral" and "moss" online. The name of the space station facility where astronauts discovered this mossy spiraling is "The Advanced Astroculture Chamber." Bingo--she had her name.
So what do I call the old Mossy Kelpari stallion? Well, Kelparies are very similar to the classic kelpies, which are from the UK. It just so happens that one of the mossy seaweeds used to produce carrageenan is also common on the coast of the UK, where it has been eaten for over a thousand years. This seaweed, Chondrus crispus, is usually called carrageen moss, Irish moss, or sea moss. If my stallion had Lucky Runes, I would call him "Irish Moss." But since he doesn't, and I don't plan to mutate him to have Lucky Runes, I decided to name him "Sea Moss." It's nice and simple, suitable for one of the very first Mossy Kelparies, and it should fit any mutation I do decide to give him. (Thinking about maybe Bubbles.)

Oh boy, where to start? I have many ways of naming pets...
I try to give an actual name to all my Exclusive pets. This lineup is my latest battle team, and I gave them warrior names because I use them for battle, using a website generator (http://www.namesmade.com/female-warrior-name-generator.php) (Then, to keep things uniform, I gave my other Vibrant Coleus luporas warrior names as well...)
They are, in order, Rollina, Diaorie, and Dorfay.
I named all my Red Rose Draeyls after actual names of red roses: Beauty of Rosemawr, Beaute Inconstante, Archduke Charles, Duke of Edinburgh.
I could go on. LOL Then, other techniques I have:
I'll choose a name and put it in google translate. So, fire flower became Liekki Kukka (in Finnish), whom I bought from Shadow:
And their names mean cherry: Ceirios (Welsh) and Silin (Irish).
And, for naming projects, I tend to try this and that. Recently, I've been using this pattern:
Name of the project / Generation / gender + number / genes / mutations. Example: Lava 4 f1 g13 m1 She is part of Lava project, fourth generation (as per the lineage), first female of that generation (f1), and she has genes 1 and 3 and mutation 1 of that design.
For themed pets, I also add the gene/mut's letter(s), like so: Harvest 3 g2BB3d m3b. This girl's gene 2 is in upper case because it's visible, and gene 3 is in lower case because it's carried. Same with the mutation. (And yes, I forgot to add f2 or whatever... oops)
I also mark hidden genes: the visible is in caps, and the hidden in lower case: Sparkling Stream g1Cu Gene C is visible, and she hides gene U. No generation shown because she's at the top of the lineage - by default it will be 1st.
