So I was thinking of this idea for a long time, why don't we have a potion that can erase any mutation that your pet has from a genetic mutator so that you can use another type of mutator on the pet that you just mutated. That way if you give a pet the wrong mutator, you can erase it and use the other one on it.
For example: I give my pet Banzai a lesser mutator, but nothing shows up, I can get an item to erase the mutation and use the greater one to get a better chance of getting a visable mutation on him.
I don't know this is just my idea, no one has to agree with me. I have been thinking about this and I might be wrong.

I think this would be considered making things too easy. Not that I wouldn't want to see it though. I really would.
What I'd suggest if it were to be implemented is for it to be a very, very expensive diamond philter. If one really likes a particular pet enough to want to change it they'd have to save up gold to buy diamonds or buy diamonds directly from the shop. This might be really nice for a particular favorite or rare pet that you really regret having done something to. And I'd say that it should not appear on the wheel.

I would love this. I used lesser mutators on three griffs the other day, and got Tribal Runes two out of three, exactly the mutation I did NOT want. I suspect like Savyn says though, that this would be an expensive philter if it were ever implemented.
A related philter I would like to see would be one that would randomly scramble the genes a pet has. It wouldn't ADD a gene, just change what and/or where you have them. So if you have two carries like Tribal and Lunar Runes, you could use this philter and if lucky get one that shows, or at least end up with different carries like Lucky Runes and Tiger.
Maybe a scrambler like this could be a regular philter, with the changer being the expensive diamond equivalent?

While I can certainly see the appeal of an item like this, I'm inclined to oppose it. It would be incredibly gamebreaking, imo. A big part of deciding to use a lesser mutator versus a greater one is accepting that the results will be random and that they cannot be reversed. There is already an item that lets you choose which trait to add. If you don't want to risk getting a trait you don't want, use a GGM instead. I don't think an item designed to give you unlimited tries at using a lesser mutator until you get the trait you want should exist.
This said! A philter that removed the trait added via mutator without removing the already-mutated status of a pet would be more plausible, for use if you really hate the gene added. Alternatively, I think a philter for undoing pet dyes would be kind of neat?

Something like this is planned with the upcoming Scale Shop update, according to READ BEFORE POSTING: A List of Features Under Development
"Scale Shop - Adding many new philters into the game such as an Infertility philter and trait removing philter."
