The times are ancient. Medieval, even. The kingdom is under the rule of a fairly young and untried king, who leans heavily on his magical advisor who calls himself Azgur the Black. Many are wary of this so-called practitioner of the magical arts, but the king will do nothing without first consulting Azgur. The servants and castle staff have taken to calling him King Azgur behind closed doors and in hushed voices. Once a peaceful kingdom, it seems this new advisor is pushing the king into war with the surrounding kingdoms. Scattered and small, the other kingdoms resent this young king flexing his musles, and it is only a matter of time before they band together and attack. Anyone who opposes Azgur instantly gains the disfavor of the king, so a band of loyal subjects have come together to see what can be done about this problem. They call themselves the Company of Fools, for it would be foolish for them to be caught at what they are doing. The Company consists of many different subjects, highborn and low, and noone who is truly interested in exposing Azgur for a fraud is turned away. Who will you be? One of Azgur's spies, trying to uncover who the Company is? One of the Company? The choices are endless.

And here we begin.
It had not been a good night. The king was not as receptive to Azgur's council as that magician wanted, and he was taking his anger out on all those he could. Which meant everyone was trying to stay away from him, which only served to anger him further. If only they all could manage it, the night would have been pleasant for most. As it was, Azgu was making insane demands upon the servants, all of whom dared not disobey or face his wrath. Krane snorted to himself, his lip curling up slightly. He rubbed a chafed spot on his wrist where, until recently, a band of metal held him captive to a dark dungeon cell. A gift from the king's advisor. And now he had summoned him, allowed him to be cleaned and dressed in new clothes, for what purpose, Krane did not know. He may not have been able to avoid being brought before the advisor, but he was taking his time in doing so, trying to stall for as long as possible. Anything to allow the Company to ready themselves. For what? Another assassination attempt, more than likely. Krane did not know that, either. He had just been asked to stall for time, keep the magician occupied. After his treatment, he was more than willing to do so. |
| Yasa wait patiently from his roost in the eves. he had waited here for hours, waiting for the king to make one command and bring forth his target. Lord that was a hard task. And why did he go through with it? He did not know that answer. Was it the money? no he was not payed enough in his opinion. was it the thrill? No fun there. I t was though nice to be the one that choose whom live or died. Thinking was always a good past time and called him so. he sighed. no this was the last tie this was to happen, he swore to that. he would find a great bunch of friends and they would have a great tie together. He may even then learn to smile freely, not the fake ones he has now. he tries to smile freely, but his face stays a dull frown. Nope, but he would learn. this little though causes him to drop the single coin he was playing with. Lord now he had done it. |
