I'm not going to go into detail on why I would also go with a "No," (I think we've got enough of those...e-e)
But I will suggest a button that allows YOU YOURSELF to delete your account.

The automatic deletion is a no from me, but the button is okay.
As long as there are so many warnings and such that you just about give up before you actually delete your account [because who'd want to leave Sylestia?]
Are you absolutely positively no questions asked surely certainly sure? Is there someone holding a gun to your head do you want to text 911? Maybe you're on the wrong site THIS IS SYLESTIA ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO LEAVE FOREVER?!?! Are you in a clear state of mind? Should you be operating heavy machinery or making important decisions right now? Are you really the person who uses this account and not their annoying younger sibling? Perhaps you are their angst cat. MEOW MEOW MEOW, MEOW MEOW MEOW!!!

No support on the button, either. That is just creating a headache for Krin for no good reason. People with siblings, flippant people, etc will come along begging for their deleted account back. Just a completely bad idea with no redeeming factors given Krin will change your account name if asked and it is pretty hard to mess the game up so badly that you couldn't afford to at least do easy missions to get back going.

Also Krin likes record keeping a fair bit. Atm he even has released pet data sticking around forever instead of going away in time lol. I don't think he really has any plan to allow such a thing from the various newbie posts inquiring in Help.

I'm going to say No to the button as well.

I've known too many people over the years who were petty enough to try and get into other's accounts and wipe them. With a button like that in place, I could easily see something like that happening here.

Then again, you are all right on the button. I'm going to be in the middle because it is true that it will help, but at the same time people can get into your account and try to delete it and think its funny. So I'm neutral with this whole button thing.

We would never do something like this.

Personally, I haven't played Everquest in probably 4 years. But I would cry a river if I logged in and a message popped up saying, "Sorry, your account has been deleted due to inactivity." I have so much invested into my character and the account as a whole.

So I'm sure many others would feel the same way about their Sylestia account.

Additionally, it's not that taxing to keep records - especially of players. We have well over a million pets now and conversely, under 30,000 players. If we were to remove everyone's account who hasn't logged in in the past 6 months, the server wouldn't even be able to notice.

So there's really no positive to doing something like this, but lots of negatives.

Sylestia will always be here for those who want to come back. This includes their account and their companions. =)

Have you ever popped back on there lately?
