MourningLily and I have been chatting about having themed pets up for breeding cost so if something should happen they'd always be available for people to breed with. (I have a lot of catching up to do myself.) But I was thinking what would happen over time if people breeding for theme projects can not notify either people owning sylesties needing bred together or what if two sylesties are on the same account?

I'd like to suggest that sylesties that are up for a breeding cost can be bred to another sylesti up for a breeding cost no matter if you own these sylesties or not. It would assure that no matter what the future brings that these sylesties are available to those who wish to breed them.

Edit: Suggestions from Thread
-to make this optional
-to not allow this on the same account but to allow breeding from different accounts

Oh I do not like the idea of other users going into my stable and breeding my pets together and taking off with their offspring. Not at all. It's way too intrusive, even if both pets need to be up for breeding.

I do get your point, but I just don't like it. If another user has two pets that you want a baby from, send a message. If that person is no longer online, that's just tough luck. If I went offline for vacation or something, I wouldn't want to come back and find that someone's been breeding two of my pets together.

I don't see how this is much different from buying a breeding from someone? Instead of using one of your own pets you would using two pets that are up for public fee'd breeding. As a themed pet breeder it can be especially frustrating to need unrelated offspring and be unable to acquire them because the large majority of specific themed pet owners are no longer playing. (Exp: Most festival nephinis, Tom the Turkey...just to name a few..)

Yes, they left their pets up for public breeding - which is absolutely awesome - but if you have nothing to initially breed to them they don't really do you any good. Plus it would cut out all of the middle man messaging back and forth. Trying to set up a breeding between two different pet owners for an egg for yourself is a long drawn out process. By having this option available it would boost the pet studding economy and save heaps of time that would have otherwise been wasted by a lot of back and forth messaging.

What Yumi said. I don't like it. I might as well just give the whole site my PW and let them do what they want.

A lot of my 2nd gen offspring are up for breeding. Some of those 2nd gens are gorgeous and make gorgeous 3rd gen babies with my other 2nd gens. As far as I'm concerned, the only way you're(and that's general)getting one is if you buy it from me. No way would I want anyone to be able to come into my stable and breed those same offspring for any reason and be able to sell what I'm selling. When a user breeds to one of my crew, they use their own pet and get a totally different look than what they'd get using two of mine. It's like handing someone your pairs and saying have at it, go ahead and use my pairs for your benefit and profit, I don't mind...Riiiight...not cool, imo.

As an option this sounds great, and a good way for someone with lots of festival pets to earn extra gold, but only if it's optional. There are plenty of reasons why people wouldn't want others to breed two of their own pets together, such as those already stated, as well as for rp reasons.

I like this idea, but I do understand Yumi and Shadow's feelings who don't want players get an offspring by breeding pets from their stables. If that's the problem, why don't just make it so players can't get an offspring by breeding pets from same player?

Perhaps an option of "Public Breeding Free Breeding" (breeds to any pet) "Public Breeding Out Stable" (Breeds as normally does now?) That way we could decide on a per pet basis how we wanna go about it

I agree. This is why I'm not putting any of my legendary pokemon themed pets up for breeding. They are staying single.

It's just too intrusive. It's like opening my stable up and letting people do whatever. If someone wants an egg from two of my pets, I want them to have to ask so that I have control over where my pets' offspring is going. If this is allowed, people can get purebred offspring by just finding someone who has two unrelated tagged/PB pets up for breeding and then have a fun time. Plus, I know that some people price their pets pretty low for breeding [males mostly] and I can see how others might take advantage of that by breeding the stud with the users other well-traited females in their stables.

And there is a huge difference between buying two pets from someone and breeding them together and simply breeding two pets that belong to a user together and taking the offspring. With the first option, you now own both pets and can do what you want with them. In the second, you're taking two of someone elses pets and doing what you want with them.

I just looked at the edited suggestions- I would think that making this an option over different accounts would take a lot of coding.
Perhaps I'm just feeling old-school on this issue. If someone wants an egg from two of my pets, I would be absolutely fine with breeding it and then selling it to them. Having my username as the original owner can lead people to my stable, where if people could just breed my pets together and take the offspring, their username will be there instead. They're my pets and I want credit.
Overall, Even if it's optional, and even if the price would be both breeding fees put together, I don't like giving that much or that kind of control to people I don't know.
