Oooh! I found out how to do it! However it doesn't work very well with lines this thin, so you will still need GIMP or Firealpaca (I recommend the latter).

What you do is take the transparent version that Kat posted and open it in the art program. Then duplicate the layer about 7 times to thicken the lines and save it as a .png.

Next open the lines in paint and go to file>save as and change the file type to monochrome bitmap and say yes to the prompts that pop up.

Now it's pixelated! But you cant use colors :( That's because the file type only allows solid black or solid white. To fix that save it as a .png again and boom! You are back in buisness! :D

I did this and it worked pretty well, though there are still a few thin ltheir that have gaps, but those are easy enough to fix. I would post it but, like I said, no internet :( if you need any help with this let me know. Also, if noone beats me to it, I can post the pixel version later today ish when I go to Mcdonalds cor a couple of hours to take advantage of their free wifi XD

EDIT:
For anyone who wants it, here is the pixel version (click for larger)

You create a new layer under the lines and color on that; the transparent sections will show the color underneath, but the lines will stay on top!

Hoo, that was fun. The background may or may not be completely overriding the lineart, heh... hope that's not a problem.

Posting this now in case I don't have a chance to finish it before the due date. Will edit if I have time.

oh wow there are a lot of really great ones @A@

this took me ages and I'm surprisingly pleased with the shading woah
approximately 241 layers this time round!
You can see the unshaded version here if you want to see all the hidden details, and be sure to click the picture for a closer look!
And now, all the details, as copy-pasted from the progress shots~
The Ryori shows Star Runes and Galaxy, the Faelora shows Skull Mask, Wildcat, Orchid, and Fae Dust, and the Drayel shows Triceratops Horns, Star Runes, Salamander, and Raptor Stripes!
(the Nytekrie has no actual genes, but is based off of the Greater Sooty Owl (Tyto tenebricosa)!)
You'll see Fly Agaric Mushrooms, Ink Cap Mushrooms, and Bleeding Tooth mushrooms~ The trees are a mix of Red and White Birches!
Nebulae shown in the Ryori's tail, in order from butt to tail-tip: Manatee Nebula, Eagle Nebula, Carina Nebula, the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula, and an unidentified comet!

Everything was done in Photoshop CS with the default brushes and tools!
