How long does it usually take for a diamond purchase to go through? I tried buying some last night and haven't gotten them yet. (I've never used paypal before)

Depends on the type of purchase. If it was an e-check or transfer, it may take a few days to clear. If you paid with your paypal balance, it should be pretty much instant.
If you paid with a card, that will depend as well.
But no matter how you paid, our server processes the transaction as soon as it's received. So if the delay is coming from PayPal, there's nothing that we can do and you could ask PayPal about the status of the payment.
However, before I'd suggest doing that, you can send me a PM with the details of your transaction and I can take a look and see what's going on with it from my end.

How should I note the free copy in my order? Like I want a total of 3 copies of some of my customs. Additionally how do I order more copies later and will it cost the same as the first time?

All copies are 100 diamonds.
And if you ask for 3 copies, I will assume you want 3 + the free one. The free one is in addition to your order.

For those who placed avatar item orders during the sale, I will begin to process them all later today (Tuesday).
Just beware, I received a ton of them lol... so it might take me more than 1 day to get them all processed.
