The Site will be temporarily offline beginning this morning, 7/18, at 3 AM. The estimated downtime is, hopefully, an hour or less. It could be as little as 15 minutes or it could be as long as hours.

The reason for the downtime is to switch our DNS from Cloudflare to our own server. This may help to improve connection issues that some may have been experiencing.

Once the Site goes offline, I will be restarting the server which takes approximately 15 minutes. By the time the server is up, I will have already switched the DNS location. At this point, your web browser will most likely tell you that Sylestia doesn't exist.

If you are trying to access Sylestia and it's displaying that, you can try flushing your DNS to get the new location to load. Below is a link that can help most anyone figure out how to flush their DNS.

After about 30 minutes, if you still can't connect to Sylestia and flushing your DNS didn't resolve the issue, you will unfortunately just have to wait it out. Usually switching a DNS can take up to 6 hours for everything to fully move. Unfortunately, it's something that can't be sped up on our end. It just takes however long it takes. =S

Mobile users would have to wait this out, correct t? Since I do not believe they have DNS/ can flush DNS

everyone has DNS because dns is how www.sylestia.com is turned into 198.20.70.42 wich is the websites IP address flushing DNS can be done possably by restarting your mobile device or the painful way would be directly entering sylestias IP address 198.20.70.42
however that will change when kirn makes the change

I'm confused... Entering the IP address where?
I have no computer yet, just my iPhone, and I'm worried about being unable to play on the phone anymore.
You said the IP address will change? How will we find sylestia's new IP? And where would we enter it so we can play again?

DNS is basically just an address for a website.

www.sylestia.com is like saying... "I live in the blue house on the left". Well, that blue house also has an address, such as 1st Home Street.

We are changing our address #, but we'll still be the blue house on the left.


When you type in www.sylestia.com, your device will figure out our address and actually load that page. When we change DNS, your device will still keep trying to look at that address, but we won't be there anymore. Until your device updates itself and realizes that we're at a new address, Sylestia won't load.

You can speed up this process usually by manually flushing your DNS. Every device is different. I'm sure you can probably google about your device and how to flush the DNS for it. But I'd imagine for mobile devices it's probably as simple as restarting your phone or clearing your browser cache or something.


TLDR: No, we'll still be www.sylestia.com. No, there's nothing special you have to do, but flushing your DNS may reduce the downtime for you.
