(I love it!!)

Yvonne had gotten out of bed and had started to walk silently to the kitchen, if only for a glass of water. Of course, she was tired, but yet still wide awake. She paused when she saw Kyong on the couch. She looked at him for a long moment. Why was he just looking at his hand like that? It was just a hand. She thought he had gone to bed? Maybe he couldn't sleep, either. That didn't explain why he was being weird, though. She opened her mouth to say something but quickly shut it as a long black tendril came from...his hand? No. This wasn't real. She tensed as the light went out, goosebumps engulfing her flesh.

Yvonne was frozen to the spot for a long moment, her eyes wide and desperately trying to adjust to the lack of light. Once she could feel as though she could move again, she attempted to just go back to her room as silently as she had come. Now, though, she was purposely trying to be quiet.

She felt as though she couldn't breathe. But why? There was no way that what she just saw was real. There was no. Way. And yet, deep in her brain, she felt as though she was not hallucinating. That she didn't hallucinate, and that is most definitely not a dream.

(Question, should he have Ye-Bin and Jang Mi in this story? Those are his two cats fyi)

Kyong felt a presence as soon as the black tendril retreated into his hand, looking over at the kitchen to see that nobody was there. He put a hand on his head, probably this stupid magic messing with him again. He stood up, walking over to the bookshelf and picking out a book. He could actually see pretty well in the dark. His eyes gave off a sort of glow in darkness, which made it so he could see better.

He sat back down on the couch, flipping to a random page in the book and reading. He'd already read through this one before, but it was a pretty good book. To him, at least.

In the back of his mind, something was telling him that Yvonne saw him using his magic. If that were the case, he'd probably have seen her, or so he thought. Kyong was pretty good at noticing presences, especially since he almost constantly had to be on the run from the police and such.

Despite this, his magic wasn't obeying him today, and it was pissing him off. So he simply tried to forget about it, reading through the book silently. Maybe it'd stop acting up tomorrow, and he'd be back to normal. He'd still have to deal with Yvonne, of course, but that's a problem for future Kyong.

(Because I am biased, yes)

Yvonne sat up on her bed, staring at the floor now, zoned out and lost in her thoughts, what she had witnessed clawing its way to the front of her brain. She couldn't forget it. She couldn't dismiss it as a hallucination anymore, either. She continued replaying the scene over and over in her head. Then it hit her. What if he knew? What if he had seen her? What if he secretly had eyes in the back of his head, or some sort of shadow companion, or...

She continued to overthink the situation. Yvonne couldn't help but wonder what on earth was going to happen to her if Kyong knew that she knew about his...shadow?...demon?...unnatural powers. She buried her hands in her hair, feeling like she could scream. She couldn't. She wouldn't. But she wanted to. A small part of her said that she was seeing things, that there was a reasonable explanation for what she had seen. Maybe she hadn't had enough water today. Maybe Kyong had put something in her bowl.

Yvonne slumped back on her bed, taking deep, shaky breaths and fixing her gaze on the ceiling. How many people had he killed? Was she going to be another one of his victims? No person in their right mind could just...ignore a recently dead corpse without glancing at it or...acknowledging it in some way or another. Okay, whatever. She couldn't deal with all of this right now. She needed to get some sleep, and then she was going to get out of there. Escape.

Her thoughts shifted from what she had seen to how she was going to have a smooth transition to get out of there. She tried to think of every possible scenario, whether it be him simply letting her go or if she would have to forcefully leave.

(Bet)

Kyong kept trying to get his mind off of the fact that Yvonne could've seen his powers, and the book wasn't helping. It was just weird to him, how his powers had been acting up, and how he practically had to take this girl in because she lost her memories. Either way, he'd have to help her regain them sometime, whether that be tomorrow or in a few weeks.

As Kyong read the book, a orange and white cat had come up to him on the couch, meowing for attention. He set the book down and began petting the cat, giving a small smile. One of his only sources of joy. The cat, which was named Jang Mi, climbed into Kyong's lap, curling up, which Kyong continued petting him. He'd had Jang Mi ever since he was only a year old, and it's been 5 years since then. Jang Mi also had a sister, Ye-Bin, who was off hiding somewhere.

Something rustled under Yvonne's bed, before a pretty colorpoint cat made her way out, looking up at the person on the bed with interest. She jumped up on the bed, sitting on the edge, away from Yvonne. The cat seemed curious to the newcomer, though it was strange that she only came out now, and not earlier. Perhaps she was taking a nap.

Even though the cat was on the bed with Yvonne, she seemed quite distant, simply staring at Yvonne with curiosity in her unfaltering light green eyes. They were almost like Kyong's, except green instead of silver.

Yvonne almost jumped out of her skin as something moved under her bed; she had to cover her mouth to prevent herself from screaming. She wasn't ready to die! Could Kyong use his powers on something he couldn't see? She didn't want to die to shadow--oh. It was just a cat. A pretty one, at that. She leaned back on the bed, sighing in relief.

She wasn't worried about why she hadn't seen the cat earlier. There were plenty of reasons as to why she hadn't spotted or heard the cat before. "You scared me," Yvonne said quietly to the animal. "You can't do me like that," she added, chuckling quietly.

Upon closer inspection, Yvonne couldn't help but notice how...sentient the cat looked. The longer she looked, she tried to decide whether the cat was sentient or empty-headed due to its faraway look. Not only that, but she found it strange how much the cat resembled her owner...but she couldn't place her finger on what it was that reminded her of him.

She continued to observe the cat, finally reaching out her hand to attempt to stroke the cat. Yvonne wasn't sure whether it would be friendly towards her or not; she couldn't tell from the way it looked.

Kyong stared down at Jang Mi, being calmed by his purrs. He was glad to have him and his sister, as he commonly had panic attacks from his memories coming back to him, and the two were the only ones who could calm him. They also resembled him, in a way. Perhaps he was like a cat, as well.

He was slowly being lulled to sleep by Jang Mi's curled body on his lap. He wasn't too ashamed about falling asleep on the couch, he'd done it before, though he didn't know how his unexpected guest would feel if she woke up before him, which was bound to happen. Either way, Kyong leaned back on the couch, keeping one hand on the cat as he closed his eyes.

The cat stared at Yvonne silently as she spoke, the same unfaltering stare as her owner, Kyong. It was like he had influenced the cat in a way, that or the cat influenced him. Besides that, she had a more calming aura to her, unlike her odd owner.

The colorpoint cat watched Yvonne's hand as it reached for her. She didn't seem scared, nor hostile. Her green eyes simply staring at the human's hand as it pet her. After a single stroke, she turned tail and hopped off the bed, walking over to the door. She then sat in front of it, as if waiting for it to open magically for her. Kyong usually left it open for the cat, since she liked hiding in places around the house.

For some reason, the silence was unnerving to Yvonne, as if she had said something and everything had gone quiet in a crowded place. She pursed her lips, not liking the way the cat was looking at her. Did all cats stare like this? What did it mean?

Even the single stroke didn't comfort Yvonne. She wasn't sure how she felt about the way it was looking at her hand, either. She wasn't sure if what she had recently witnessed was influencing the way she saw things or what, but she couldn't help but feel like if the cat hadn't hopped off the bed, it would've unhinged its jaw and swallowed her hand whole.

Yvonne shook her head in an attempt to clear it as the cat waited in front of the door. Obviously, it was waiting for something. She waited for a moment, just in case the cat couldn't summon those...shadow...things. She shuddered, debating whether being alone or not was a good idea.

However, she knew she couldn't keep the cat captive in good conscious. She stood and moved towards the door, thinking about how crazy this had turned her. Now she was worried about cats having the power to summon shadows. She shook her head once again as she opened the door for the cat.

(Super sorry for the delay! I was blocked off of Sylestia for a while, but I'm back now! Also sorry for the short reply, Kyong is asleep lol. I'm planning on redrawing Kyong since it's been a while since I've made him.)

The cat waited patiently as Yvonne walked to the door and opened it, calmly walking out as it opened. She looked back at Yvonne for a second, before walking to the living room and hopping onto the couch, curling up next to Kyong and another cat.

Kyong was fast asleep, one of his hands on Jang Mi. He seemed quite peaceful compared to earlier, and didn't stir as his other cat curled up beside him. Jang Mi lifted his head and looked at his sister, blinking and looking to where she came from, before resting his head back down.
