"Go on," Rin urges, realizing he said it aloud. "Um. I mean. If you want to."
Itami chuckles. Well, I'm glad everyone is thoroughly enjoying this experience. I would be more than happy to continue. He clears his throat, despite not needing to.
Chaos told the child that it would keep him safe - and it did, without anyone ever knowing it was bound to Hitari. But, fortunately, within years, the villagers decided that his presence in the village alone cursed them all. Get out, they screamed. Begone, and never come back, scourge of evil, bane of our lives. And so, having grown into a young man over those years, he chose not to argue and willingly left, Chaos happily following him, knowing it would have more fun another day.
"Wow, it's almost like they don't break promises," Hitari mutters.
Do. . .are you actually finding this. . .good or interesting? Kanashimi asks. I mean, it is a bit intriguing, but. . .

"Good? Of course not. Interesting? Yes." Rin replies, embarrassed for whatever reason.

Mm. . .I guess I can't say I find it the same, Kanashimi says. I've never heard Itami tell a story before. . .he's. . .oddly good at it. . .
Hitari trained himself, Itami says. He trained himself to use Chaos; he did not know what for - but it was all he had, living in the forest with nothing but himself and wildlife. Over time, over decades and decades, he grew closer to Chaos - it was like an old, good friend, and still taught him new things with each passing day. And, like him, the village grew, eventually expanding to the edge of the trees. Not many entered, though - he would use them as practice, so a story of rabid wolves and cougars was started.
Shiawase is silently glancing between Hitari and Itami, but says nothing.
Rin glances at Hitari and shivers. Yeesh. I don't even know what to think at this point....
One day, Chaos whispered something to Hitari - a party would be raiding the woods that night, intending to hunt for what they thought were wild animals. It told him they would be different - they would have something called "guns", something he hadn't encountered yet. It told him to try something new. Itami looks at Hitari. Do you remember what it told you to try?
Hitari doesn't verbally respond, but raises his hand palm-up. Inky black tendrils rise from his skin and expand, forming a large scythe longer than he is tall.
Itami nods. Yeah, that.
Shiawase's eyes widen. "You. . .have one too. . ."
Scythes are a universal weapon, Shiawase, Itami says unironically. It's not too surprising.
