Now I wish I could see the ads, being a donator, I have been unable to see them, lol.

Curiosity is killing me though, what'd you find?

Can't be helped, I suppose. While I am rather disappointed, I understand completely. I'm quite used to it, though, and... I kinda like the adds. They're what directed me to this website, you know? ^3^ The advertisements show you lots of games that'll probably be totally fun to play, if you decide to play them. Come on, everybody, look on the bright side of things!

Sometimes when i first load the home page after logging in, the ads will be there XD Otherwise mine are disabled because i buy diamonds (which, i agree with having an option to turn them on or off or diamond buyers. I wouldn't mind having them displayed at all! )

The ones I see are all for textbook rentals. #collegelife

Does anyone know if there's a way to control what sort of ads you see? The flashy ones are doing my head in. I know the content of the ads is targetted, but can the style of them be changed at all?

No. But you can click the 'X' when the ad first loads and mark that you no longer wish to see that ad.

That's good to know! Thanks Krin.

ETA: The ones that are flashy and bothering me don't have the X to stop them. Are they all supposed to?

These are the flashy ones. I can't see how to stop them:

In comparison, this one does have the X and the click through to Google's Ads settings:

The ads down the side are all fine. It's just the ones along the bottom that are bugging me.

I have a new update...
Now that the ads have been around for a while, there are so many more different ones that are showing. That in and of itself is [probably] not a problem (though I did have to start deleting temp files so much more often or else my computer would slow down too much). But, there is one (I suspect it is just one based on the frequency that it comes up, but I guess it's possible that there are more) that freezes the page and my only option is to close the Tab it's in. I also believe that ad may be where a trojan I keep finding on my computer is coming from because it seems to show up after I get that frozen page. I believe the ad is always in the bottom ad space and I've never seen it because the page freezes as soon as it loads and I can't move my screen, so I have no way of knowing which one it could be... I don't know if you could have any way of finding out which one it could be or if anything could even be done about it even if you could find it. I would think that Google Ad Services would have to be contacted, but I can't access them at all. (I would think they would want to know or check somehow, but what do I know... :o ) I just thought you might want to know, just in case it is one of the ads and not a coincidence... I'm not 100% sure, but the trojan may be turning off my virus scanner and firewall when it comes around, so I had to turn my security settings way up to try to block the ad (because I couldn't get to it any other way -I tried) but in doing so I managed to disable my ability to play in the map and my Inventory... Might you be able to tell me what specific things I need to allow or enable to be able to see and interact with the map and my Inventory again? ^_^;;

So sorry for the trouble, but I didn't know what else to do since the trojan was affecting so many other things... o.o

Edit 6:30pm - Huzzah! I've been messing with my settings again and I finally found the right settings and now I can see and interact with the map and my Inventory again! ^D^

That shouldn't be related to the ads. Google approves every ad and they are simply just an image of sorts with a destination URL when clicked. It shouldn't be possible for the ad itself to somehow download something on your computer or change your settings.

My guess would be that you had malware on your computer from elsewhere.

As for the ad not loading. I too have that issue sometimes (where no ad will load), but it hasn't frozen my tab so I'm not sure.

As always though, if you're having issues, you can just use an ad blocker.

There isn't really much that I can do. It's all kinda an automatic system. I have no idea what those ads link to so I would have no way of blocking them.

As always, if the ads are causing issues, you can use an ad blocker to hide them.
