He squeaks, jumping in fright and whirling round. He takes off the small hat he has on his head politely. "Sorry ma'am, just got a little scare is all," he blurts. He then seems to take in what you've said. "Help? Oh. Yes. Yes please. I'm trying to set this stand up so I can perform... it's just a bit rusted is all. If you would please try to set it up for me, I'd be very grateful."
"Sorry that I scared you I didn't mean too," I start helping set up the stand, "If you don't mind my asking what are you preforming?"
"No worries, I've got you," he says cheerfully, reaching out his talons for you to grab on. He pulls you up onto one of the lower branches, so now you can make it up on your own. "The sack makes for good nesting material. With our body heat, the egg will incubate nicely."
He looks contemplative. "When it does hatch," - you note he says when, and not if, like the egg distributor had said - "will you name it, or will I?"
"You may name it, after all you are technically the adoptive father."
It's safe to assume that if she had her own men, then she's in a clan - and that could potentially mean that what you're doing is playing a part in a clan rivalry. But the female had said that what was going on was 'bigger than you think'. It's suspicious for sure - but you're only in on it for a bow. It shouldn't need to go any further than that... right?
You reach the warehouse district in a few minutes. It's just where you remembered it to be - many Centaurs played out here as kids. The place where rich Higher Creatures from afar would build warehouses where ruthless and unquestioning guards were cheap and goods could come in and out without question or investigation - corrupt for sure, but it did get money flowing through Thatchburg, and was working towards developing the town further.
The road splits here. The female hadn't mentioned that - and you can't see any warehouses of her description from where you're standing. Do you want to go left or right?
Delirious looks back and forth between the two roads a few times, she didn't want to look suspicious. Someone might follow her in hopes of getting a share of what might be about to be stolen, it may sound odd, but it had happened to her before. So what says it can't happen again? After two short seconds she decided that she preferred the look of the left side, after all she could always walk back if she was wrong. Maybe she should just pick up the pace a small bit.

"Right. I'll need your name and any previous occupations you've had," he asks boredly, taping his pen against the form he's about to fill in for you.

(No worries - thanks for correcting it)
Well, he has proven to be quite brave. Recovering quickly to start literally pulling his weight, the cart in other words. And hiding you from the bandits so you could formulate a plan - helping with that too - as well as actually injuring a couple even though he was outnumbered. Stoic. Valiant even.

He taps his nose knowingly, a little grin on his face. Now he's over the fright he seems to be a little braver.
"Thank you ever so much for putting up this stand. The innkeeper only supplied it, not even bothering to put it up for me!" he huffs, but smiles anyway. "If you stick around, I could show you. It's rather clever actually. I used to use the skill for hurting others, but I figured that wasn't a nice thing to do so I've changed now," he nods enthusiastically. "I'm making things better now! But first I need to get some money. So I perform, and I get money. I can share some with you for helping me if you like."

He clicks his beak thoughtfully. "I suppose so. I should keep in mind that he'll fly the nest eventually then. Come on, nights coming and it'll get cold."
He ducks into the hole in the tree after making sure you're coming in after him.

I follow him and try to get comfortable.
"Are you hungry?" I ask him.

As you speed up to a trot, you're really noticing how few guards are around the seemingly wealthy-built looking buildings here.
It all makes sense in a few seconds when you see flickering firelight ahead of you and rowdy, bawling singing voices round a bend in the road. It's cloudy and dull, so in the shadows - that you can see even though it's daytime - that are cast across the path, there are dancing figures and the rough shapes of mugs in hands.
Seems like this is the distraction the female was talking about. Maybe a quick investigation first would be a good idea.
