(If the place exists, you can go anywhere you want. Within reason... if it's a floating island in the sky you're going to have a bit of trouble :P)
The apprentice barks another laugh, slamming the counter in glee. "We're Dwarves! What else is there to do but drink?" he guffaws.
Well, now that you know a place where you can start earning gold and a reputation, it's only a matter of time and a bit of hard work until you can be chosen to be an apprentice - and from there, the best smithy Anaia has ever seen.

(M'kay. I'll make sure to send a random person Nicote's way sometime~)
"Huh. As if anyone would dislike such a helpful Elf like you... uh... son," Balthur finished awkwardly. "Hm. That's funny. Seems like I haven't caught your name. That's never happened before, considering how nice you've been."

"I don't usually give my name out. Mostly because people start freaking out once they figure out who I am. Then again they're usually elves or travelers who stay in elvanor awhile..."

It doesn't take you long. Many of the foot traffic is heading there, so you aren't caught up at all.
The 'mines' is an understatement. The main mining shaft is a massive chasm leading away from Vanguard, through the rock of the mighty mountain that the city is carved from, with scaffolding and ladders and Dwarves mining all over the place. There are many tunnels leading off of the main shaft, and you can't see an end to it.
There is a shoddy desk by the entrance, with a big sign saying 'Recruits' above it. A long line of Dwarves stand in front of it. Seems that's where you go to get into the mining force.

"Oh." Balthur says quietly. For a second, he almost sounds sad. Hurt even. But he soon returns to his jolly self. "Well if it makes you feel better, I've only been in Elvenor a couple of times - and not for very long. I never did like how claustrophobic it felt, and all the politics and classes and things like that. Much prefer the open and friendly towns. Maybe not the bandits, but... that's the Central territories for you," he laughs. "Never a dull moment."

"If it helps, you can just call me N." Simple yet mysterious, just like he usually acted.
The aptly named Riverside Inn is a large and wealthy looking building, with sturdy brick walls, a tiled roof and even what looks like glass windows with images carved into it. It seems that the owner must be wealthy.
There are many carts parked around, guarded by the same Centaur militia as the two on the bridge. Perhaps most of the inn's income comes from the bridge toll.
The thing that is most interesting is that there is a Goblin outside the front door. You've never seen one before - and most of the onlookers mustn't have either, because they're studying him with wary interest. He seems to be trying to set some kind of stand up, but is having difficulty with it.
He doesn't appear to be like the tales you've heard of Goblins before - sure, he's small and green, but he doesn't look like a bloodthirsty monster who is attempting to rob everyone of their livelihoods. He almost looks... helpless. Small and weak with no-one wanting to help him.
"Would you like some help," I ask the goblin.
