The sun is just a couple of hours from setting - but you haven't been travelling for long. Round about now you should be checking for camping sites to land for the night.
Under the canopy of the Old Forest, shadows loom. The only signs of life are a few Critters flying around.
"Should we set up camp there?" I ask Skywhisper. "Or somewhere more open?"
(No worries, it's you and the others who wait for me, not the other way around ^.^
Oo, not had anyone thinking of pinching things yet - this story should be interesting)
"I would personally prefer if that longbow left my stall on good terms," she says without even looking up from the bow she's engraving. So, not niave then. Sharp enough for theft to be out of the question. Or, at least, a stealthy one anyway.
As of this far you've dealt with well-meaning elves, now you've got Delirious to deal with. She will cause trouble, I promise!

Delirious looks up at her and smiles as sweetly as her face allows her to, before running her hand along the longbow testing the quality of the materials it had been made from. Maybe she would consider buying it if she couldn't swipe it.
"Dont worry Maam, I'm just looking."

"Well, come on then," he says, walking out the shop. "See you in a bit, sis'."
"And for goodness sake, please don't injure yourself any more!" she shouts after him. She turns to you and the Wyvern. "Please make sure he doesn't, or this time he's paying for the medical attention I give him."
The Wyvern grunts, nodding.

The bartender looks you over again and grunts. "Well, I still don't have a job for you 'ere, and without a name for yourself no smithy is going to accept you as their apprentice. And if you've never had experience being a Vanguard smithy's apprentice, you'll never make a living out of armour and weapon forging."
He turns to fill another ale mug and slides it across the counter.
"He's right, you know," a Dwarf to your left says. "Any Vanguard smithy worth his salt has been an apprentice to another smithy at some point. Take my advice: make a name for yourself down in the mineshafts, and a Vanguard smithy looking for an apprentice will find you in no time. Then you have gold, grit and you'll be well on your way to knowing all that Vanguard expects of you as a smithy. I should know, I'm an apprentice just now."

But I won't get hurt. Never again. I don't want you getting hurt without backup, she insists stubbornly.

"Making camp in the middle of the Old Forest is a bad idea. There are untold creatures and Critters that could harm us, and the egg," he says, flying a little lower as he scans the ground. "Somewhere more open also has the same trouble, for air-to-ground attacks among other things. But I did have an idea that we could find a Hollowtree. There are plenty around that won't already be claimed."
Hollowtrees are trees that are easy to make a small space inside. Many creatures claim them as homes, as inside they are sheltered and warm. They are also easily defendable. You'd just need to find the tell-tale signs of a Hollowtree: purplish-black leaves that often poke above the canopy of the other trees. But as it gets darker, it will be difficult to tell the leaves from the others in the gloom.

(Hmmz. We'll see about that >:d)
"For now, in any case," she says, putting down her bow but not moving from where she's sitting. "Stonewood. Elven holy stuff. Not often does that get out of their precious Elf hands. The string is made from Amberthread. I'm sure you know how good that is."
Stonewood... Amberthread - both are revered materials for bow-users. Stonewood is the most durable wood there is - it doesn't burn, it doesn't fracture... no one really knows how the Elves break through the actual trees.
And Amberthread? It's rumoured that it is made from the tears of a Phoenix, hardened by the fiery breath of a Hellhound.
This isn't some naive little vendor in the middle of the Central territories - there's more to this female than meets the eye. And there is no way she is alone with precious goods like these.

Aww, I'll find something to steal just you wait!! Just maybe not from this smart cookie... I don't believe it'll end well for me.

Delirious taps the wood a few times and examine it for a few more seconds to make sure that those were defiantly the materials used to create this bow, she defiantly didn't want to get swindled.
"Hmm, what would you be looking for in exchange for one of these?"
Delirious asked, knowing there almost wasn't a single chance she'd be able to afford something like this anytime soon.
