You check a couple pictures and such. soon you get bored. You should probably study some languages particularily the language of the place you are going too.
He opened up his language learning app. He plugged in his earphones, listening in on how to say and watched them write things.
Probably about 1-2 hours using the translation book to help her read the romance and then a half-hour randomly skimming about in the translation book because she finds it slightly boring.

The first seems to be of a small country farm in Ireland and the second seems to be referencing a pretty Cafe in Italy, Venice.
