There was a certain level of difficulty involved in focusing on what Blaine was saying, Tavra found, and especially since there was still a significant amount of wonder surrounding the other woman's appearance. It was as though her mind was so absorbed in trying to decipher what it was seeing that she was able to grasp the general gist of what Blaine was saying, but not any of the more subtle nuances in her speech.
The mention of "men" and "standards" certainly got Tavra's attention though, whether she liked it or not. Her hand stiffened around her glass of whiskey, and it was with almost steely resolve that she downed the rest of her drink.
"I'm not sure I even have a goal...," she said, not even quite sure she'd meant to say that aloud.

The dwarf woman smiled at you warmly as you approached her. "I've got it," she tells you, then pauses and considers. "Actually, I'm a bit behind on deliveries, and I might not make it home to my family on time without some help. I've got some more boxes in that carriage. If you wouldn't mind helping me transport them to this weapon shop, I could pay you."

You pick up the strange creature, and it tenses at first, but it lets you pick it up. It seems to even like the petting.

The dwarf nodded and pulled out three different bows. One was simple but well-crafted. The second was longer and a bit tougher, but still simple. The third, you saw, was actually rather exquisite - it was made of iron and engraved with dwarven words.
"The basic one is ten. The second one would be a hundred. That third one there, though - that one's going to be a much heftier price."

"You don't need one," Blaine told you confidently. She took another drink of her whiskey. Behind you, a young, scrawny human was being bullied by a trio of bulkier men. Blaine watched with disinterest, and then wrinkled her nose and stared down at her alcohol. "People can be wicked," she muttered, but you weren't entirely sure whether it was directed towards you or the men.

You help the woman get the rest of the boxes to the weapons shop in record time. They were heavy, but you were well-trained and did not buck under the weight. "Thank you very much, sir," the woman smiled at you after they were done. "I was worried I'd miss my son's birthday. Here, for your help," she handed over a pouch of coins, and then got in her wagon and took off.
