Hitari starts to shake as he stares at the floor, drawing his hands into tight fists. His eyes start to water. "You know, I'm still. . .there, when he is too. A long time ago, he. . .made me. . ." He stops in a choking sob.

"There's a reason why you don't find anyone or anything out here."

Rin, mustering his last remaining sane brain cells, looks up at Hitari. "....There is?"

Maaaaaaaybe you shouldn't have asked. Hitari shoots you a death glare. "I'm not discussing it, especially not with you."

His face falls as he realizes how aggressive that was. He looks back down.

"Itami likes to joke. . .that he'd like me to. . .be his permanent vessel. I don't you think you realize. . .what kind of hell that is," he manages to say.

Rin's pupils shrink. He remembers how terrifying Itami was in person. He can't... imagine.... having that inside of him for all eternity.

"Sometimes I think it'd be nice," Hitari says. "Not having to. . .handle anything. Not even having to watch. . .I could just. . .sleep. And that sounds good."

His face tightens. "But then. . .I remember. . .how much worse he was. . .when he did have an actual body. You may. . .think he's bad now, but. . ." He trails off, still staring at the floor.

"A single flick of the wrist, and his blades. . .everyone's gone. . ."

She giggled lightly still petting it

Rin looks at Hitari with half horror and half sympathy.

His face twists into a warped smile. "Not that it could!" He says, almost sounding like he's laughing. "This world will never be full again!"
