Ah... okay, that's not too bad... are those sciences specifically required for computer sciences, or are those just general things that every college student needs to take?
That's good to know, thank you
This is all really helpful :3

For my college, those courses are offered to meet my credit requirement for science. I still have my actual degree classes to do in computer science and programming on top of it, so I'm pretty sure they are more general education requirements. Computer science degrees have a higher math and science credit requirement than a lot of other degrees, to clarify.
Glad I could help answer any questions. ^^
Now to get thread back on topic, how do you guys go about planning out new characters? I'm curious.
For me I usually make a character on the spot with an idea that comes to mind and find ways to slot them into plot in the process, but I always felt like that was pretty lazy, so I'd like to get insight into other people's drafting processes.

Okay, that makes sense, thank you!
New characters...
I had to make six in the past week (no, I don't like torturing myself), so here's my process. It might happen in a different order for different people or characters, but that's just life. Do with this what you will. For the examples, I'll use my character... Nesciellus of Mirna Lovya... yeah, sure, him
Step 1: Get an idea. The easy part. I wanted a character that lives in a peaceful town, but is frowned upon by the people around him for his actions, actions that are enough to cause civil unrest. This eventually became people wanting him to step down from his position because he doesn't really do his job (which happened in steps 3 and 5).
Step 2: Know the character's environment. Let it influence who the character is. Nesciellus lives on the island town Mirna Lovya. The water surrounding it keeps it pretty protected from danger, so he's probably more relaxed than people in other towns. He also live in a cold climate, which will be important later.
Step 3: Know who your character is. What do they do? Why do they do it? Nesciellus is governor of a town, so he probably has a lot of people who will listen to him. Since he's a side character, I want to take his personality and blow it a bit out of proportion so he's less forgettable and stands out from the other governors and townspeople. Let's say he's constantly bored because of how safe his town is, and prefers dreaming of life outside the walls than doing real work, so he pawns off his responsibilities onto others who follow him.
Step 4: Know what the character looks like. Visualizing a character can help. If you don't want to draw them, make a list of traits. Nesciellus is pretty wealthy, so he can afford extra fabric to keep out the cold. He lives near water, though, so furs that other people in his world use could get wet and heavy and weigh him down. Instead, he'll layer up, and wear baggier clothes that keep the heat in (think like how warm a baggy hoodie is). It's a thing in his world that men grow beards to keep their faces warm, but he's pretty young, so to show that, he'll have a permanent 5-o'clock shadow situation to contrast the fuller beards of the older residents. Finally, he lives near the water, so I want to give him a sea-faring look. I went with a pirate theme, gave him a 'peg-leg' that looks much like a Paralympic sprinter prosthetic, and swept his hair back, up, and to the side (like the wind did that or something. he probably uses some sort of hair product, though....)
Step 5: Know the character's personality. In your head or in short stories, have the character meet and interact with other characters. I had to think a while about how Nesciellus regards the protagonist, what people of his town think of him, his reactions to situations, etc. He treats people with indifference, but what about ones that impress him with feats of courage? He probably tries to get those people to help him with things like organizing the town's militia. What about disrespect? His bored stare probably changes slightly to show he's offended and his manner grows somewhat colder, but after an apology, it probably doesn't take too long for him to forgive an insult. Little things like that can help fine-tune and reign in loose details.
Hope that all made sense :3
Or... however much of it you read. I didn't mean for this to get so lengthy >///<

Do you ever just... reread old writing and want to die? I did that today. Ptonlrm (time to go to bed) problem is, said bad writing is published. :/ yikes
It's not that I hate all of it, (I actually really like it) it's just that I read some sentences and go, 'afdldnfalsjfbbsdk why'
(With the exception of the best pickup line (thanks to my friend), 'if you were a cookie, you'd be a good one')
I don't think I could release Hiraeth: Edition 2. xD Well, maybe after I finish the trilogy I could release a phat book a-la-lord of the rings. that book do be thicc
Alas, I should be writing. Instead, I am bothering you. :)

Do you listen to music when you write? I don't. Head empty, words go
Music go, head gone
few word, do trick

I really like the word austere. Fun fact, I started writing a badtm fanfic by that title in the 8th grade. What's your favorite word? I also really like the word aberration. It's such a pretty word that means ugly. (it's also the inspiration for my world, Aberra!)

I have so much old fanfiction that I hate. unfortunately (or fortunately?), I lost my terrible PokemonxFNaF fanfiction years ago, I'd love to show it to people because it is just, so bad.
I listen to music when I'm writing. Mostly bc songs that match the characters I'm writeing help me write them.
Fav word is either Kizmit (meaning 'Destiny') or Lepidoptera, which is the scientific word for moths and butterflies.

Lepidoptera is a good word!
Fanfiction is simultaneously the best and worst thing. I could never really get into writing it because I always wanted to do my own ideas, so now I stick to novelizations and what-ifs. (and of course, my own works)

Can't relate on a fanfic front, but there's a reason why I never talk about Snowy Jones the X grade vampire, especially since some of the lines were literally "@%$rchd's cat tryed to hrt me." Although part of that is my mother's fault lol.
Edit: "Music go, head gone" is the best line I've heard in a while lol. But I have to listen to music. No music, no head, no dodos dancing.

I will never understand people who can write with music playing, like some music I'll listen to and go "Hey! this makes me wanna write" but if I try listening to the music while I write my mind goes blank and then I jus listen to the music and get nothing done for an hour until I get the motivation again and actually write something. This is how every story I have ever made was written.
