"Misery loves company," Rin agrees. "And loneliness loves to wallow in pain." He hears Hitari's statement about the owl. "What do you mean?"
"He wouldn't have gotten hurt if he had stayed quiet in that tree. But, because he did cry out, he got hurt (by all means should've died), then the owl was brought in here. . ." Hitari stops for breath.
"The owl was brought in here, Loneliness waited for Pain to notice their anger, blah blah blah. Hitari's fine, he's just stupid," he finishes. "Apparently he doesn't remember to not get upset."
He takes the knife out of his pocket and balances the blade on his finger. "Curious thing, aren't you? I like that. You don't seem to come to fear easily."

Rin sighs hard. Everyone comes to fear easily. It's a matter of whether or not you come to accept it.

She smiled and stored the food and berrys for the pup before resting next to them
Rin sighs hard. Everyone comes to fear easily. It's a matter of whether or not you come to accept it.
"Vessel," he says, snapping his fingers. "That's the word I couldn't remember. Loneliness is, at its peak, worse, whatever you want to call it - a vessel for pain."
He sighs. "And with pain, a world becomes even better."
Rin suddenly understands Hitari a lot better. He nods slowly.
"This world was a little too. . .happy," he continues. "A little too bright, a little too colorful. No one's gonna want a story where nothing ever goes wrong."
He frowns bitterly. "Shiawase is a pastel idiot. They're the most dangerous, if you ask me. They take everything literally."

Rin, listening attentively, nods again. Shiawase. Takes everything literally. Keep that in that thick head of yours, Rin.
