Tails stared into the fire. "Sonic once told me something... He said that after he beat Chaos, he looked out the flood waters. He knew that even though he lost some people, he couldn't dwell on it. He had to live to fight another day... I'm not sure if that helps at all, but..."

Knuckles narrowed his eyes and crept closer to the scent, the rain muting his footsteps. Yes... He was right. Smoke.
