Akio's backpack hit the floor for the third time that day as he took in the food set at the long table.
Akira had a similar expression on her face.
Surely this wasn't meant for them?

Mason took a second to respond. "Yes, of course." , He smiled, squeezing his hand. "We could do whatever you wish." Mason's smile was pained, especially because moving caused his poker burn to hurt.

Elliott stood, watching the ordeal with Akio and Akira. So that was the feeling. Adjusting the straps on her bag, she followed the others inside as Liam and Mr Manitoba led them down a large hallway and around corners until it opened into a glorious dining room. Liam made a wide gesture to the table, already set. "Enjoy!"

Nicolas smiled, but he could notice Mason was in pain.. He didn't ask about it, and just held his hand as they went to the dining hall. He was amazed at the food, but was a little scared.

Elizabeth thanked Mr. Manitoba, and swiftly took a seat and started to serve herself.

Rowan on the other hand patiently waited for the others to join them.

Mr. Manitoba looked to Liam, grinning. " Will you be joining us tonight, Son? "

Liam looked hesitantly at the long table. Son. "If you'd like me to, I will." The other kids seemed almost starved, taking large, messy heaps. But that would be the least of their worries.

Elliott took a seat next to Elizabeth. She watched the food make its rounds, but took none but a small pile of corn. She was still slightly disappointed it didn't fit her ideal countryside dream she had long fabricated, but was grateful to be out of the orphanage.
