Once you've safely hidden your ears beneath your hood, you step into the inn. It seems bigger inside than it had looked from the outside, even having a second floor, though it's still quite quaint. Perhaps contributing to this cozy impression is the fact that the foyer is decorated for comfort, carpeted with plush rugs and a couch in every corner.
The woman at the front desk waves you over. "Welcome to the the Evening Bell Inn," she yawns. "How can I help you?" Perched on her shoulder is a small lizard with keys in its mouth, which looks up curiously as you approach.

"Um, hello! Wonderful inn you have here, do you possibly have a room for two? If so, I would like to book it." She tried to smile, not awkwardly at the lady, but wasn't sure if she was succeeding. The small lizard was also encompassing her mind. Why does it look so intelligent? It looks about ready to speak at me. It is cute though. . .
I sit up, considering the idea for a few moments. Trading day was a good day to obtain materials for cheap prices, but the entire town of Hanne was also there. Which likely meant pushing and shoving and injuries-
But it would be good to get out there. I grunted, shoving myself out of bed and wrapping cloths around my calves to protect them. I could just stay on the outskirts; only talk to the traders who weren't doing much business. I would still experience Trading Day - kind of - without running the risk of getting hurt. I nodded to myself; it was the only way to do it. Besides, it was raining. I would be fine.
whoops think i forgot to ping you-

(No worries ^^)
You've just finished wrapping your calves when there's a knock at your door. From beyond, you realize, wafts the delicious scent of pancakes with a hint of apples and brown sugar, though either you've woken up late or it seems earlier than usual for breakfast to already be made.
"Carter?" your mother's voice calls from outside your room. "Are you up yet? Breakfast's already prepared, but your father and I are going to leave early to take a look at some of what the traders and crafters have to offer. Were you planning to come, or would you rather stay at home? You can always go later, too, but I would suggest going early if you want to avoid the worst of the crowds."

Carter frowned. Nobody her age went with their parents. They always went with their friends, in large clusters. There were a few people in town Carter would consider herself acquainted with, but even if they were best friends, Carter would wait for them to invite her. It just seemed. . . weird. To walk up to somebody's door and demand they go look at goods with her.
"Sure, I'll come," Carter called back down. She could always dally at one trader, wait for her parents to move on. Purposefully split them up. Besides, morning was the least risky. Less crowds. Carter quickly finished getting ready, walking downstairs.

After packing your satchel with a few belongings, you head downstairs to find breakfast already waiting for you at the table, your father at the stove while your mother checks her purse by the door.
"Morning, kiddo," your father says, sliding one last hot pancake onto your plate. "Excited for trading day?"
Before you can reply, your mother comes up behind you and drops 5 silver pieces onto the table beside your plate. "Don't worry, we know you won't be wanting to be looking at the stalls with us, so we'll leave you be on your own. Just don't get yourself into any trouble and be home before dark, okay?"
"And make sure you haggle the best deals out of those traders," your father teases as he slings his own bag over his shoulder.

The receptionist gives you an odd look, but nods. "Of course. I believe we have..." she glances briefly at the lizard, which bobs its head up and down, keys jangling in its mouth. "Yes, we do indeed have an open room for two. We usually only get loners passing through here, after all."
She clears her throat, flipping open a ledger. "At any rate, will the room be secured under--that is to say, expenses charged to--your name or another's? The cost of a two-person room is one gold per night, a 'night' being counted by sunset and ending at sunrise, which includes this hour. Payment may be made in advance or upon departure."
As if to emphasize her words, the lizard hops down onto a page of the ledger, looking at you and tilting its head toward the next empty line.

"Ah, it'll be under another's name. Unfortunately, she hasnt told me her name as of yet but I'm sure she'll be here soon." Saying it out loud, she realized that it sounded very suspicious. And that she probably shouldn't have trusted the woman as much as she has. "Your lizard is very cute." She said, trying to make a good impression on the woman.

Carter offers them a tiny smile. They were trying to make light of the situation, of course. She might as well let them have it.
"Haggling, sure," Carter replied, mouth full of pancake. She slowed herself down, waiting for her parents to leave. It would be less awkward if she went out alone.
He takes the fruit from you, squinting at it curiously. Then, he takes a bite of one with a nod. "Deal!" he declares with his mouth full, picking up the stone that you've chosen and presenting it to you. "They're delicious--I mean, it is a worthy trade, so I will let you have this. Be careful with it, now."
Just as he hands you the rock, however, there's a crash and alarmed shouts from the large stall right beside you. It seems as though one of the tables has somehow come crashing entirely down, broken glass and beads scattering across the pavement right by your feet.
"My figurines!" one of the vendors shouts, bending down in some attempt to fix the damage or salvage her work, but in doing so accidentally crashes into a pole holding up the awning above her head. The wind catches the end of the fabric, ripping it free of the pole--and leaving the stall and its customers open to the pouring rain.
Then, amidst the chaos, someone cries, "Thief! There's been a thief!"

Your success in conducting a trade, albeit one with a child, has given you just a little more experience with social interaction. Charisma +1
Opening my mouth to thank the child, the interruption of the chaos stopped me. No way was I going to get involved with that right now, and instead I stayed put where I was with the child. I looked towards the kid again, "I'm gonna stay here with you until everything dies down, your stand is too nice to let any thing bad happen to it." I told him.
Maybe it was foolish to stay, and maybe I should chase after the thief, but I am not strong. It was better in my mind to stay put and keep the child safe in case there was danger, since I didn't see any parents around.
