She shrugs, looking mildly interested as she unties the horse and leads it over. "Bounty hunters, maybe? You know, some towns will hire people to take care of something that's troubling the area. Or it could be a private contract or something, considering it was just the two of them..." she says thoughtfully. "If that's all you heard, that's good. You did well, and I would have liked to see what this animal was, but I don't think I can afford to chase after something like that right now..." she trails off, then adds quickly, "Wait, did you say that there was somewhere that was cursed? If so, it would be good know so we can avoid it if we're going to go on." She glances around. "How long ago did he leave?"

(No worries, and relatable x'D)

You just about manage make your way to the other end of the alley without any interference, but just as you emerge on the other side, a bright, childlike voice from the intersecting street shouts, "Hey, ma'am! Would you be interested in some of my wares? Quick, take a look, you'll have first pick before the traders come!"
From the sound of it, it's probably just another vendor eager to hawk their wares at the nearest person, as street vendors do. But there is some truth to their words, at least--from the other end of the street, you can make out the forms of the traders rejoining the crowd, made distinct by the bags of wares and smaller carts that they're towing with them. Most of them will trade directly with the vendors for their crafts, while others will set up their own stations to sell their own wares alongside the craftsmen.

"Um. . . I'd say about 5-10 minutes ago. Why? Do you want to go after them? Personally, I don't think they're anywhere near here by now. The other person would make sense as a bounty hunter, but the other person was definitely looking for something. If they were a bounty hunter themselves, they would have been able to get whatever it was themselves." Freya looked down, thinking about what could be so important, and dangerous.

I paused, taking a moment to search for whoever spoke to me while also thinking about their offer. "Why not?" I sigh. I head over to their set up, keeping a close watch for any magic laced onto the wares. It wasn't often I took up offers like this, just because of my fear of, well, people. I was trying to be more social and outgoing to those around me, so why not take their offer?

(Lmao np, I assumed you hadn't logged in for a bit lol)

The vendor winces and struggles to her feet, hurriedly turning to check that her cart is still upright. "I'm fine, I suppose that's what I get for being clumsy." She clicks her tongue, shaking her head irritably. "And, of course, all the big crafters will all be staying nice and dry in their shops, no need for awnings, while all the traders go to them...I shouldn't be complaining, though, I'm lucky that I managed to snag a spot in the main square at all. You wouldn't believe how early I had to get here for that."
By some miracle, she finally manages to get her awning mostly untangled without falling over again. "There we go! Now then, would you be a dear and get that pole propped up for me?"

"Sure," Calden said and tried to do what was asked of him.

Ah. Seems like now is the time to be suddenly reminded he has scales. He became, for some reason, acutely aware that the rest of his body was able to feel the cold, wet rainwater he's drenched in yet his scales can't detect a thing. But his skin can feel the edge of his scales when theyre in certain positions. Ignore, ignore, ignore it. He tried to push it out of his mind's attention.

"About the traders all flocking to the big crafters, that is an exaggeration, right? I cant imagine not getting at least a little curious about what everyone else is selling.

Hi everyone! Sorry for the ping, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I'll have to push responses back for a bit (hopefully just for this week?) since I have some very scary tests coming up and also need to submit entries for some writing competitions lol. I'll still be slowly getting around to everyone when I have the time, just...even more slowly than usual :') So yeah, please do not be alarmed if I take even longer to reply. Thank you all for playing!

(Haha if only I had done that on purpose xD, glad you like it and ack I'm so sorry for the terribly belated reply!)

Basic Observation check - moderate success
Basic Intelligence check - complete success!

This far from the center of town, and in this area, there's not usually much activity--in fact, you don't see anyone at all outside. Of course, there's always a chance that there could be enemies hiding in the well-trimmed bushes, but the usual birdsong is undisturbed, and it almost seems peaceful enough to put you at ease.

For having never really left the town, there's a decent bit you've picked up about the outside world, most common knowledge and some the occasional story you've overheard from the gossip of travelers. Just the traveling itself, you know, can be tricky--there are roads that twist and turn in ways that shouldn't be possible, or spit you out right at the beginning after walking a mile. In the face of that, even the best maps have a tendency to be unreliable. And that's not to mention the beings you've heard that like to intentionally lead travelers astray, nor whatever other common dangers face a person on the road--bandits and bears and holes in the ground and whatnot.

At least you have some idea of your bearings to start with--Ravyne is quite far to the west, much closer to the sea than to the Uncharted. The region immediately nearby should be fairly tranquil; the roads are little more than dirt paths, but the weather should be mild and the land's resources abundant with little danger--the blessing of spring extends for a good distance past the borders of the town itself before fading. The nearest town to the east is somewhat far, perhaps about three days' worth of brisk travel, but Ravyne's blessing should hold for about half that journey, and you've heard that the weather outside that is mild this time of year.
Beyond that, though, your knowledge wanes considerably. Indeed, you know terribly little about the land that constitutes the vast majority of your predicted journey, and even if you did, the world is vast and always changing. Hearsay can only do so much to prepare you for the actuality of it, and you can only hope that you'll be able to quickly pick up knowledge on the go.

The town center's your best bet for a place that'll busy enough for you. And, if there's anything that can prepare you for your venture, it'll be there. It's not unusual to pass a visitor or two to the town, especially if you hang around the areas with inns, but how quiet Ravyne generally is, it's a toss-up if there'll be anything more than a small group of visitors.
The closer you get to the center of town, the more people you pass on the streets, though there's not quite enough activity to have anything near a bustle. A few people shoot you wary glances as you pass by, either recognizing you or simply having the intuition to stay out of your way, though most ignore you. It doesn't take long to spot the visitors among the crowd--the only ones gaping at the flowers, which are just about everywhere, from window boxes to the flowering trees lining the street. Even in the air, there's no shortage of colorful petals and blossoms blowing every which way, scattering across the street and getting caught in your hair almost instantly. Perhaps it'll make you look a little more friendly?
As expected, the first major buildings you see on the street are all flower-related businesses, from flower arrangers to apothecaries, and a few roadside stands selling--you guessed it--flowers. It's not until you get to nearly the heart of town that you finally see establishments that, at the very least, aren't all directly related to flowers. Here, the stores have a bit more variety, with the normal blacksmiths, bakeries, general stores, and other town essentials. And, ah--just across the street from you, there's a small inn, its doorway of course decorated with pink blooms.

(Why do I feel like Rythia would be living her best life here)

(Sorry for the late reply!)

The day is refreshingly crisp but bright as you head out to the center of town, passing few people in the streets on your way. A few of the passerby give you odd glances, but most either ignore you or nod in acknowledgement--it's a small town, and you're a distinctive enough figure to be recognized.

Most of the shops can be found in the center of town, which is just a short walk away from your house. The closer you get, the more people you see about, though it's still a fairly quiet day with not much of a crowd. The town's famous flowers, on the other hand, are everywhere you look. There's plants growing in every windowsill, trees in perpetual bloom lining the streets and square, and wayward petals drifting about in the breeze.
The majority of shops and stalls you pass on the way are Ravyne's trademark florists, meant to appeal to passing travelers or the odd local on their way past to the main town center, where the more practical, day-to-day shops reside (even if they are still covered in flowers). Whatever you're looking for first, you're likely to be able to find it there.
