In the FAQ on the forum, however, I found this. So I'm not sure if the rules have been changed and the FAQ hasn't been updated or if you've been lucky. Regardless, I'm happy your dragons still have their names.

"Q: All my dragons names disappeared; why?
A: If you are inactive and don't log into your scroll for eight weeks, you will lose your dragon names so that other people who may want them will now have a chance to use them. See the terms and conditions for this information. Names that have disappeared cannot be retrieved; you will have to re-name your dragons on your own. You may be able to retrieve some names through Wayback Machine."

I did try the Wayback Machine. I'm a bit confused on how to use it though. I tried looking up my scroll but it said it didn't have a record on that page. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?

I have no idea why my dragons still have their names at all, but I'm kind of glad they do. Maybe the names only go away if someone else claims them? Also, here's my scroll (the names are so childish XD)

Name clearing is currently not happening properly. So even if the scroll is inactive, a good portion of names still are retained whereas others are freed up seemingly at random. /knows this because there are names I've been stalking for over half a year in hopes they'd free up

If you searched your scroll link in Wayback (i.e. http://dragcave.net/user/SCROLLNAMEHERE) and it comes back with nothing, I'm afraid that means that Wayback didn't trawl and archive it >n<

The Wayback Machine is an Internet archive search engine, and has nothing to do with DC. It basically trawls and archive webpages, takes a snapshot of them if you will; it can archive a webpage more than once so you can see how it changes at different time-points. Wayback can be a godsend. Say a website you follow a link to no longer exists in 2013. If Wayback has it archived, you can still view the archived versions from previous year(s). Wayback doesn't archive pages from sites like LiveJournal and Fanfiction.net though, since these sites don't allow for trawling.

I have a dragon cave account... sadly the only dragon I have that hatched is a female lightning dragon... everyone only click on her and no one clicks on my eggies!

I joined Sylestia yesterday after being referred from a forum on Gaiaonline.com for DC discussion. Kind of convoluted but it's a small world after all! My DC scroll is BringsTheSnow if anyone wants to check it out. I am still getting the hang of Sylestia but DC has been great! I mostly troll the AP for lineaged eggs I can continue with but have thought about starting my own breeding projects soon.

I think the flower giving for Valentine's on Dragon Cave is a really cute idea. I try to remember to check for a seed every now and then. Anyway, if anyone wants me to send them a flower on Dragon Cave let me know. :)
