Since it would be part of each pet's genetic information at that point, there shouldn't be any significant slowdown on searches, any more than searching for any other trait, and you could only have it added for new pets bred from now on so you don't have to back-tag a million offspring? Eh, probably unlikely, but just a thought that came to me. :-)

It would be very intensive to have a search globally return that type of information. It would have to find all wheel pets, then find if they've breeded and with whom - and then if the mate is also a wheel pet, and then return the babies. All of that put together, especially down the road, would be very intensive for the server to return results from - especially if stacked w/ other parameters.

Why can't you just make it an attribute for pets? Seems like it could be the same attribute that marks whether something is a wheel pet.

Almost anything is always possible.

The reason we don't really want to do that though is b/c we want there to be separation between the two. We want the original themed pets to be more valuable than the offsprings because you can just make unlimited offspring.

So because of that, we don't want to just lump them into the same category.

Although, I specifically did what I did two weeks ago to greatly reduce the amount of data kept on pets. I purged dozens of unnecessary columns to save space and reduce load times. At this point, my suggestion would be to post a thread in the Suggestion Box so we can see how others feel. Basically what you're asking would be that if two of the same themed pets breed, their offspring would be labeled as a "Purebred Offspring" instead of just "Offspring", yea?

Well, Themed Pets are so wanted b/c they're fairly rare. This makes them valuable.

If we tag Offspring with the same thing as the originals, then there will be many, many more Themed Pets. This will dilute the Themed Pets and greatly reduce their value.

So if we add this, we would prefer to separate it from the original Themed Pets so that they maintain their value.
