Here's a list of movies that I think are quite good. Kind of a range of when they're made. I know I'm leaving out a lot. I could probably make a few posts on just film. I'm just putting them in alphabetical order. I'm also only listing movies I've seen. A Fistful of Dollars is basically a remake of Yojimbo but both movies I think are worth seeing. I don't know if my favorite movie could be called a great movie so I won't put it in the list but it's Harvey.
If you want to find lists of great film you may want to check out The National Film Registry which selects films for preservation and the Sight & Sound polls.
Some favorite directors are John Carpenter, Cohen Brothers, Terry Gilliam, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino. I'd like to see more movies by Yasujir Ozu, Isao Takahata, Francois Truffaut. I think Jeff Nichols is looking to be a great director. I'm looking forward to his next movie.

12 Angry Men
Alien

Assault on Precinct 13
Back to the Future
The Big Lebowski
