Melissa decided not to respond quickly, as she opened the boxes nearest to her. "There could be cameras, and I'd rather think that it was kidnappers instead of some. . . weird paranormal stuff. It would make more sense. I also think that, for now at least, we should stay in the main room. We don't know what wild animals there are in here that could kill us. And, if you could, please be respectful of other's personal space." She sighed, opening the crate and hoping to find something useful. Despite how apathetic she looked, she was quite worried of what could be in there. Steeling her nerves she barely peeks her head in, hoping nothing jumps at her face, and finds a few water bottles. "Well, that's good. I've found water bottles!"

Sitting up blearly, Emhry groaned, holding a hand up to their forehead where a pulsing pain was starting to recede. Last thing he remembered was a friend agreeing to let him crash at theirs for a week or so. They'd only just started moving his very few personal belongings.

Looking around however, revealed some sort of...warehouse? They started to get up, but upon noticing people in various states of alertness stopped. What on earth was going on? "Hey, if Lexie paid yall to knock me out and then drag me here, haha very funny joke but can you tell her she could've just asked me to buy her a drink next time?"

Jinxue jumped back abruptly. "Hey, how am I supposed to go about checking if you're alive from across the room? Anyways, it's good that you are, or else I was going to have to try doing CPR."

She brushed off her pants and marched over to the other side of the room, where the others were investigating the boxes. "I hope it's paranormal stuff," she mused, "that'd be much more interesting than just being kidnapped. Besides, wouldn't kidnappers have at least tried to tie us up or something?"

She hefted another, heavier crate, and tried to pry the lid open to little avail. "Let's see if there's food in this one, or maybe some sort of weapon--ugh, this one's sealed." She reached for her belt and sighed. "I haven't got my knife on me. Has anyone got, like, a pickaxe or something I can use to break this open? Or maybe I can throw it at the wall until it breaks?"

Lyra watches the others from her corner. She has no desire to interact with them, they could be murderers, for all she knows. Instead, she quietly inspects the boxes around her, looking for anything useful. Maybe some food. She could go for a burger.

Jasper attempts to throw the box, but it's too heavy for him.
"Yeah, I think we're going to need a pickaxe. Wonder what's inside."
He wonders about this whole place, really, and he's almost sure that everyone else does too. He tries his best to recall what happened that led to him being here, but it's fuzzy. He went to bed, slept, and woke up... here. He wonders how everyone else got here. He doesn't even know their names, and makes a mental note to ask everyone later.

"Well. . . If or when we get out of this warehouse, you can tell Lexie that it isn't a funny joke for any of us, either. I'd rather believe it's kidnapping, but to find an exit we'd have to go down those halls, and it's better not to split up in our current situation." She looked at the box the white-haired girl was carrying. "You could throw it on the floor? It is cement, after all. And I don't think any of us woke up with any tools. Maybe we could stack some of the crates like stairs to get a higher vantage point to drop it from?" Melissa realized that she didn't know anyone else's name here. And neither did they know hers. Perhaps I should speak first, maybe it'll give the others some confidence to do the same. . . "My name's Melissa, by the way."

Jinxue picked up the crate, heaved it up as high as she could hold it, and let it fall straight down to the floor with a loud thump. Now peering down at it, she drew her foot back and gave it a good, hard kick. The wooden timbers creaked, but didn't yield. "Hmm. Might need another go. Or a couple, actually."

She hefted it back up and dropped it back onto the cement several more times, glancing over her shoulder at the taller girl. "Jinxue," she said, between thumps. "Or whatever you want, really. Just don't call me Xuexue, that's what I call my cat." She leaned down to inspect the wood, which had started to crack. "There we go. Think I can bash it in now?" She backed up several paces, as if preparing to get a running start.

"Reni, they/them, get it right," Reni calls out. "Did someone say they found water? If it's not opened, I wouldn't mind one...if you don't mind..." They flinch as the crate being thrown hits the floor again. "...also don't they usually put kidnapped people in a room and not the main area of a building?"

"Maybe it's a test. That vantage point idea sounds good," Kieren comments. He's poking around, looking for anything that he could open with his bare hands. Warehouses tend to have like cardboard boxes of stuff, right? Or at least that's what he vaguely remembers from watching people in bulk stores. Or did they come in crates, he honestly doesn't know. He deals with birds, not retail. Though... "Hey, if this is a warehouse then shouldn't there be like, stuff to open and move stuff? Why are there, like, no forklifts in sight?"

(sorry y'all, weekend was r o u g h)

Jinxue perked up. "Ooh, a forklift? I hope there's one around, I've always wanted to drive one of those!" She pushed off the ground, sprinted straight at the crate, and once again kicked the side of it as hard as she could manage. This time, the wood splintered beneath her foot, leaving a sizeable hole.

"I asked my brother about it once, you know, but he told me it was too dangerous and that I'd get in trouble with these OSHA inspector people. But then he also said that the same people once yelled at him for standing on a swivel chair at work, so I'm sure it can't be that bad."

She peered into the hole her sneaker had left in the crate, then stuck both hands in and drew out a large, heavy-looking silver can. "What's this? Some sort of aerosol or something? I think it could be flammable, looks like one of those oil or alcohol-based things you find in a garage." She tilted it from side to side, causing a sloshing sound from within.

Kieren turned to see what had been found and inmediately decided he didn't want to go bear....whatever it was. Just in case. "Are you sure it's not flamable?" He questioend. He was not at all qualified to deal with like, a gasoline explosion. Or somwthing. Wait did they even come in cans like that? Maybe he was overthinking, but then again he wasn't exactly a knowledgeable source kn cans. Didn't people store food in cans too?

"Ooh, sloshy. What exactly is in there?" Reni asked while Kieren had a crisis where he aas standing. "Should we open it? Or keep looking?" They poked at the nearest crate. "....do all of these have different things in them?"

"Oh, it's almost definitely flammable," Jinxue confirmed cheerfully. "The question is, where can we find something to set it on fire with? Maybe we can blow our way out of here or something? If it's like, formaldehyde or something, I'm sure it'd make a pretty cool explosion..."

She picked up the next crate, which was significantly lighter. "No idea, but I'm going to keep searching these crates and see if I can find out. Maybe we'll find food somewhere, seeing as we probably can't drink whatever's in that can. Well, you know, I suppose you could, it just wouldn't...taste very good."

(I am about to get put on an fbi watchlist for googling explosive chemicals)
