She shivered before picking some more berries for the pup and wrapping them up in a cloth "cant stay here for long" she smiled picking it up and feeding it another
Rin starts to hear a ringing in his ears. He is terrified. Maybe it's just a.... an animal, like Hitari said, he thinks, but he can't even begin to believe it. The creature emits an aura of maliciousness and fear stronger than any animal could ever have. Don't notice me, he prays. Just.... move.... slowly.... away...
As it reaches the first branch, alarmed hooting comes from a hole in the tree.
Fast as a switch, the figure plunges one of its hands? inside and drags out an owl.
The sound of it gurgling for breath is painful.
After the gasping stops, the figure drops the owl and sits on the branch, staring out somewhere past the house.

The pup seems ecstatic.
A rock tumbles behind you. The wind has been going against your face for a while.

Rin feels sorry for the poor owl, but he is frightened by the shadowy figure. He decides to wait until it's out of range, then help the pitiful creature.

"maybe we should follow the berries they need water to grow so maybe there is sum close by" she said walking over to the trail of berrie bushes

The door to Hitari's house opens - you mostly know this due to the creaking sound it makes, and by the light that spills out.
He walks out, glancing around. Seeing the owl on the ground among the trees, he swears under his breath as he comes over.
Gently picking it up, Hitari seems to be examining it for wounds. Swearing again, he looks up.
The shadowy figure looks down at him, but doesn't do anything as Hitari huffs and returns to his house with the owl.

The bushes must have long, sturdy roots - you can't hear or see any water anywhere, so they must get all their nourishment from the river (or rain, if it even rains here).
The pup suddenly ducks its head down after it looks behind you. Something must be back there - but that would mean the cougar tracked you. . .which way was the wind going, again?

Rin sighs in relief. Hitari is a strange, broken man, but at least the owl won't be left at the will of the horrible shadowy creature. Rin resolves to visit Hitari tomorrow morning, just to check on the bird.

Now seems to be a good time to get some rest, too. The shadow either isn't interested in you, or it hasn't noticed you - you've been pretty quiet, and it seems to attack only what it hears. Perhaps that means its eyesight is poor.
The light in Hitari's house turns off, presumably because he's gone back to bed.

Rin relaxes a little. He's glad the creature hasn't seemed to notice him, and he eventually nods off.
