The fox pup is sitting on the ground, huffing a little, with its tail in its mouth.

Seeing you come back, it yips in joy and wobbles up to you.

In the direction the shadow went, you hear a sudden snap - like something stepped on a twig.

A light turns on in Hitari's house, but nothing else happens.

(haha, I think I know.... poor Rin....)
Rin tries to scrunch himself closer to the tree. His heart is pounding. He doesn't know what he should do!

You hear another crack - but this one almost sounds like an entire branch broke of a tree, instead of a small stick snapping.

As you stare at where the noise is coming from, you realize you can see the shadowy figure climbing the tree - that's not good. But now that it's moving actively, you can tell it's humanoid in shape.

It's not looking anywhere in particular. . .maybe it just rests in trees. . .?

The pup sniffs your fingers, curious about the stains.

It seems to recognize the scent. Excited about it, the pup goes to another round of chasing its tail.

The berries don't look poisonous (but then again, most berries look the same), and the skin where the juice stuck to doesn't seem to be reacting at all.

Rin starts to hear a ringing in his ears. He is terrified. Maybe it's just a.... an animal, like Hitari said, he thinks, but he can't even begin to believe it. The creature emits an aura of maliciousness and fear stronger than any animal could ever have. Don't notice me, he prays. Just.... move.... slowly.... away...

The pup practically inhales it. Happily bouncing around, all of its energy seems to have been recovered.

In the far, far, distance, you can hear the cougar sharpening its claws on the rock you were on top of before.
