Looking back in the direction you came, you realize you are not too far from the town and would be able to go back if necessary.
He decided to head back and rest under some shade until the sun started going down.

You are able to take some twigs and branches from nearby bushes, but cannot find any means of lighting the fire.
I decide to put the fish in my bag, and walk down the bank of the river, and see if there's anything near there.

When she sees the lasso, she spooks a couple steps back. She returns to your side moments later, but she seems reluctant to let you put it around her neck.

I look for any more food to offer her, hoping to gain her trust.

You head back and rest near the town, watching the townspeople absentmindedly. Soon enough, the sun begins to go down and you can feel it getting a bit colder.

At the riverbank, you find some rocks you might be able to get a spark out of. However, they are wet.

Velos sighed and made sure his water bottle was full, if not filling it up, and making sure he was fully quenched before heading back towards the desert.

I stash the rocks, hoping they'll dry and I can use them later. I continue walking along the bank of the river.

You head to the tack shop, which is quite far away. It is already early evening by the time you get there. An old man greets you at the door, speaking with an accent you can't quite place. "Hey, I'm Stan! What brings you to my tack shop?"
