I decide to just leave Branch to his own devices, after telling him to sit tight and that I'd be right back.
Upon entering the shop, I choose to buy:
Small Backpack - 25G
Earth Halter/Bridle - 20G
Large Dragon Treats x2 - 32G
Bows and Arrows - 50G
Hunting Knife - 10G
Total - 137G
And I also decide that afterwards I could do with building a few of my skills.

you practice for a little while longer and soon you can go forward,, backwards, left, right, up and down.

Chrokee smiled and gave Jester a pat, praising him. "Good boy" she said. Voice commands were started, touch commands would be next. He seemed to understand them, such as touching left shoulder meant go right, touching chest meant go back etc
You manage to start a fire and soon feel warmed up, the wind chills you but the fire makes it bearabe
I get my spear and hunting kinfe and work out, practicing my fighting skills. Then if I have time before total darkness, I'll try a bit of archery.
