After checking your water canteen to make sure it is full, you continue into the desert. Soon, you are surrounded by sand on all sides with the occasional cactus or shrub.

He tried to keep his eyes partially shut, realizing from the heat he should've waited til night. he wondered if it was too late to turn back now.

You stand as still as possible until a duck followed by a line of ducklings waddles out from the tall grass. They only notice you a second before they bump into you, waddling the other way hurriedly. You wonder whether there is a pond or creek nearby.

You look harder but nothing catches your eye. Looking back at the horses confused, you notice that they are following your every move as though you would attack them. It seems that what they are afraid of is you.

You could, I don't really see a problem with getting lucky at the beginning. They'd share a stall though since one's a foal.

Just a smol update - I'm considering a horse captured once you secure a lasso (you all have one in your inventory) around it's neck. On their profile I'll add loyalty/100, so if you capture a horse forcefully it'll be lower than if they go with you by choice. Of course, loyalty can be changed.

Looking back in the direction you came, you realize you are not too far from the town and would be able to go back if necessary.

For a while it almost seems like they won't come, but eventually a stallion comes forward to eat the berries.
