"I'll be fine, I don't even sleep much half the time," he says, shielding his squinting eyes from the sun with his wing momentarily. "What exactly are you trying to get at anyway?"

You're back at the meeting place now and you could spot Chike (Omar's boss) amidst the chatty crowd not too far away. Chike seems to be finishing up his conversation with a friend.

I resist the urge to put my face in my hands. Fine. Fine. I've never met anyone else as determined as this boy, but I'll be damned if it outlasts my stubbornness.

"Right, I might as well just be straight with you," I cringe internally - with my kind of upbringing, I haven't been given much practice in doing this. I try to manouvre us so that we're not spotted by Chike, but are still able to keep track of him; speaking quickly to try to finish before he does.

"My name's Falcon, and I have a plan that will get the two of us the most out of this situation." I point over at Omar's employer. "Chike is willing to pay me to ensure you don't do something stupid. If we can convince him that the task is complete, I'm set for supplies.

"There's someone nearby looking for the 'lost temple of Aban'. Getting them on board as our guide is optional, depending on the camel situation and whether you already know where to find a temple.

"I'm... a little like you. I've had to watch out for myself, but for different reasons and in different ways. I can help you out there, but only if we work together," I take a deep breath, shrugging. "So what do you say?"

The runes on the walls continue to pulse as bugs crawled on their luminescent strings. You'll have to come to a decision eventually.

Right. No use waiting around for some form of death to come for me. If I die, I'll die getting the living heck out of this place. I clench my fists, resolving to locate the prison break while trying to stay as quiet as possible. I glance at the exit warily, mulling over my decision one last time. This.... is probably a bad idea.... whatever. Cosimo, it's time to stop being a coward for once in your life.

One of them flinches and looks at you warily after you make yourself known. Somebody else who hadn't been talking earlier commented, "An Aegisisan avian. Never seen one of those before..." They step a bit closer towards you in curiosity.

"What do you need?" the woman asks.

(That awkward moment when you forget what you were going to do)

"Uhh... " I back away slightly from the person trying to get a look at me like I'm a fascinating specimen or something.
Well, I'm sure I am, but not in that way.
What even was I going to do, anyways? Offer to help them? "I dunno, I was just about to say that you shouldn't discuss those kinds of things out in the open where anyone could overhear it?" I suggest, hiding my injured arm behind my back. "Then again, I kind of just ran away from a ton of guards, so I guess I'm not the one to be talking about being discreet..."

You can't get much of a better look at the figure as it's very far off in the distance and you can't really get any closer while in the tower, but it soon reveals itself. Or, as it turns out, themselves. A woman was riding her black horse towards the wall which was galloping as fast as it can. From what you could see, she's currently being pursued by a small team of two.

Your mother made you wear your coat right before you went out. There weren't any more interruptions as you went to Mary's, whose house was only about a ten minute's walk from where you lived. After a couple of knocks on her door, she opened it.

"Hello, dear. Is that for me?" she asked with a smile. "That Lydia. Must have gotten worried when the fire last night happened. Thank you very much, sweetheart." She gently took the basket from you.

(And I keep forgetting to tell you. An Archian is the 2nd highest position both politically and religiously in Pompodis and they each govern a section under the Ensol who is at the top of the hierarchy)

-------------------

There are some knives around that had missed the Archian by a whole lot that you could take. All of the knives have strange symbols engraved onto the blade for some reason.

"I haven't a clue," he answers. He applies pressure to his wounds as he tells his panicked kids to go with the baker who was entering a back room with another customer.

You could barely see with your sharp avian eyes that the attacker was reaching for more knives. "I'd advise you to go with the others," the Archian says. He was putting his weight on the wall as he walked towards the room too.

"If you say so," I say, crouching down to grab one of the knives off the ground, "but isn't the attacker just going to follow us in?"

I grip the hilt tightly and head towards the room, deep in thought. If the attacker wanted to kill the Archian, why not just follow him back home? He clearly didn't notice them until I told him... unless it was because I told him; knowing their target had the knowledge that they were there might've prompted them to attack earlier than they'd originally planned.

Either way, though, wouldn't it have been easier to just wait for him at his house to murder him, instead of going to all the trouble of stalking him from rooftops? But then again, his kids might've been targets as well, and they might not live with their uncle. If the attacker is actually an assassin or something, though, would it not make more sense to gather information on their targets first, before planning their demise?
