Rin watches the two, slightly terrified. Great. Yep. I'm the smallest and the weakest person here by a lot. Not that I was expecting any differently.....

Mentally, though, you're probably doing the best. . .
Hitari blinks and glances out the corner of his eyes at Shiawase, nodding very slightly.
She sighs in relief. "How do you like that, Itami?"
Much as I like not knowing what the plan is, he grumbles.
"Don't worry," she replies, nudging him. "We have some course of action planned out."
"What - what is that?" Zandaka asks, shaking Hitari (Kanashimi, really) a bit. "Do you think they really have the ability to plan something for you?"

True.
Rin glances at Itami nervously. He isn't dumb per se, but he isn't the brightest either and hasn't exactly figured out what's going on. More likely than not, that's for the best, as he does have a tendency to undermine such plans. Wait, is.... Kanashimi.... what?

well i really forgot this existed huh
Hitari (again, Kanashimi) smiles at Zandaka softly. "I mean. . .I'd say they're certainly able to figure it out. Maybe not Itami, though," he says, grumbling the last bit while glaring at the mentioned spectre.
You know, sometimes I wonder why I'm even helping you guys, Itami mutters. Especially if that - that - I don't know. . .if that infuriating, bipolar, lazy dastard is on this side.
"Oh, shut your mouth," Shiawase replies. "Kanashimi's like the second version of Balance. He knows what he's doing."
Only half of the time, apparently.
". . .I'm deciding that you've said nothing."
"Are you two done?" Zandaka says sternly. "Let us continue the plot, would you? This story's getting dull with all of your babbling." Without waiting for a response, she redirects her attention back to Hitari. "Remember, we do not need you for this cleansing. But it would definitely be a lot less suffering on your part if you just cooperate."
ThE stOrY'S geTtiNG dUlL, Itami says to you mockingly, quiet enough for Zandaka not to hear. Fun fact, she's basically a narcissist - at least most of the time. Used to call herself the 'Author of the Tales', actually. Glad she's gotten over that bit.

"Yeah," Rin agrees, not really knowing why he said that... Somehow I, um, don't think Hitari's going to cooperate.....
As the conversation went on, Rin found himself liking Zandaka less and less. Maybe it's just a bias. I mean, balance is supposed to be a good thing, right? He hasn't moved a lot since Itami last spoke, but his dark eyes are conflicted. Whose judgement do I trust? The twisted chaos god who's decided not to kill me, for the moment anyways, the apparently-possessive spirit I hardly know, the optimistic wish-granter who gives second chances to everything, or the arbiter of intercosmic law that's still on the fence on destroying the lot of us?
Why can't the choices be more clear here? Rin mentally shouts, spectacularly confused.
.... but were they ever in the first place, Rin?
A thought creeps into his head, one he's had many times before but never acknowledged.
