The cougar hisses and bounds a couple feet away, but it doesn't leave.
It's just sitting there, still staring at you, breathing heavily. After a few seconds, it turns its head to lap at the shallow scratches the stick gave it, but then returns to watching you.

Firelight yelped in surprise when it jumped on her, then realized it was playing. So she got up and ran around the cave.
