"What?!" Sophie groaned. Where could he be? "What should we do Sam?" Her distress showed clearly on her face. "Peter is in trouble. Someone is after us! We need to find Tony!"

Sam's eyebrows shot up. "Your boyfriend's in trouble? Well, show me where he is and let me suit up real fast and let's go! We'll worry about Tony when Peter's safe." As he spoke he stood up and dashed into his bedroom, his voice muffled through the sound of the Falcon wings starting up. He reappeared with the goggles and backpack firmly in place. "Alright, let's go. You got a suit, good. You can fly there with me and show me where Peter is."

Sophie stood up straight, "My boyfriend?!" she cried indignantly. "Now just you listen here--" she called after Sam but he had already headed to his room to suit up. When he came back, Sophie opened her mouth to set him straight, but thought better of it, realizing Peter was still in danger. "We're gonna have a little talk sometime soon" she muttered, then spoke up, "I left him at the school." Sophie ran out of the house and lept into the sky in the direction of her school. When they arrived, she flew up to the window she had recently escaped from. The classroom was empty and demolished. Sophie turned to look at Sam.

Sam put two fingers to his ear. "Peter, you read me?" After a long moment, he tried again. "Peter, do you copy? If you can hear me, answer me, kid!" He took his fingers off his ear. "Does the kid even have his phone with him?" He tried connecting with Peter one last time.

Sophie shrugged impatiently. It would be like Peter to forget his phone somewhere. "Let's go inside and start looking for him!" she pleaded, already crawling through the window. Sophie had made it to the school hallway when she heard a loud crash. She glanced around wildly.

Sam pulled her down behind an overturned locker, motioning for her to be quiet. He peeked over as another crash rang out. He sighed and stood up, crossing his arms. "Sophie said you were in trouble." He realized that Spider-Man was not okay when he fell over, slamming one shoulder into the wall. "Sophie, help me get him outta that suit," he said, stepping over the rubble towards Peter. Touching his glasses, he said, "How's he looking in there? Give me x-ray."

Worried, Sophie rushed over to Peter and removed his mask. His eyes were closed. "Pete? Are you ok?" She glanced up at Sam's anxious face. She felt dizzy.

"Well, other than a few bruises, he's apparently fine. He doesn't look that way though." Sam laid two fingers against Peter's neck. "His pulse is fine." He leaned in towards Peter's nose. "He's breathing. Is he bleeding anywhere?" Sam started pulling off the shirt, revealing Peter's bare chest. "Well, I hope he wears shorts under this," Sam remarked as he felt under Peter's back before turning him over. Not a scratch, only a few darkening bruises and a green symbol at the base of his neck. Sam traced it with a gentle finger. "Where'd this come from? More importantly, what's it doing to him?" He traced it again, trying to feel if it was raised or depressed into his skin. When he reached the middle, Sam ran his finger in little circles around the central dot. He frowned and felt with all his fingers, probing the area. He felt something under Peter's skin click and he froze. Peter woke up with a yowl and webbed Sam to the floor before he recognized him. "Oh man, sorry, just, something really stung in the back of my neck and oh man I'm sorry. Sophie," he said, noticing her, "I thought you were getting your dad." He made a face and rubbed the back of his neck. "Oh, can I have my, uh, can I have my clothes back?"

Quickly snapping into action, she replied while reaching for his suit, "Oh ya Tony's kind of missing right now." Shoving the suit into his arms," Put this on. Your clothes are probably still where you left them, behind the school." Sophie sighed and moved to sit next to him. "Peter, what happened?" Gently she laid her hands on his neck and studied the symbol with a puzzled face

Peter pulled away. "Ow." He put the shirt on, his voice a little muffled as he recounted what had happened. "So I sent you after your dad, and I came back in here, right? And this guy, I don't even know who he was. But he had a huge axe. And two strips of hair or a tattoo or something on his head. And he knocked me out. And then I woke up on my face and this really pretty lady was singing and told me I was going to be fine and her hands were nice and cool and she made the big knot on my head go away. And then I went back to sleep and woke up when you guys startled me." He looked at Sam's suspicious face and then at Sophie. "What? That's all I remember." He rubbed his neck nervously.
