"At the moment - knowledge," Hitari says. "Although, for some reason, I doubt you know the answers to many of my questions. But in in long term?" He pauses to think. "I do not know, but all I'm aware of is that something must be done; something that I excel at."

Still on the ground, Itami grasps around him, searching for anything that could help him. Unfortunately, dead grass and pebbles can't really do much. Great, he thinks. So I either waste a bunch of energy at the chance of being able to fix some of this, or we die - well, either way I'd probably be killed. But I'm pretty sure the kid can actually die. . .

Everything is unbalanced, Chaos says, giving up on trying to exit the unseen barrier. All failsafes are either missing, isolated. . .just like the other worlds. This is the one I am most invested in, yet it is now the one I can only do the least in.

I keep forgetting they're a kid, Hitari thinks. My, she. . .really wouldn't like this.

"How about this?" He says unexpectedly. "We can play a little game of truths - switching with asking each other questions and answering honestly. And lies, as they usually are, will be punished."

What the hell? Itami thinks, confused. . . .that. . .was a total change in character. . .

Hitari raises an eyebrow. "How about I go first, and you can have a little while to think beyond that?" He thinks for a moment, pondering on what he should ask. "Why are you here - moreso, what brought you here?"

Behind him, Itami grunts as he tries to sit up. The crystal tears through him, still sticking fast to the ground, leaving a fist-sized hole in his chest. He winces. That's a new one.
