"Out here, you have all the prey you could ever want, no responsibility, absolute freedom! You will never fight a pointless border battle again" I tell Mudstripe. "I just want you to be safe..."





*Mudstripe*

"I wish I could stay but..." I lean closer so only he can hear me, "I'm in love with a cat from my Clan, and the Clan is my home" I explain quietly.

Lemonstar silently crept into the cave, spotting the two she let out a battle cry and lunged at Fangtalon, raking her claws down his flank.

EbbPaw watched his mentor walk back to camp. He was going to follow her but noticed she was dazed. She was in love! he realized. But with who? The rogue. "SparrowSong loves a rogue!" he said, not noticed he had said it out loud. He may act snobby, but he liked seeing his clan mates happy, and if that meant telling his leader off, he would do it. He threw himself at the leader, knocking her off the cat. He gave a small hiss. I didn't harm her, only pushed her. His eyes darted back to SparrowSong. What if I get kicked out of the clan?! he thought suddenly.

SparrowSong whirled around when she heard her apprentice shout out her secret. "I-" she started. "I don't!" she said firmly. She tried to hide it, but was it that obvious. She cursed herself over and over in her head. Now her apprentice was going to get them both kicked out of the clan! She gave a small snarl and lept at her apprentice, attempting to drag him away from the leader.

*Fangtalon*

I am too dazed by my brother's declaration that he will not stay with me to notice what is happening around me. I stumble into a corner and curl up, crying silently as the scratches along my back and the re-opened gash in my right shoulder bleeds. I don't see how Mudstripe still just sits there, head bowed.

SparrowSong gave a short sigh and grabbed FangTalon. She pulled him out of the way of the leader and took his place. If the leader attacked her, LemonStar had a reason.

WispClan
Her eyes narrowed "I'm highly disappointed. Scarlettspark, if it's your wish you may stay a rouge, but you will be killed upon sight if you come back. Mudstripe obviously was forced here against his will, and since you two have no respect for the warrior code I will have to take him back myself. Can you walk, Mudstripe? At least to our camp."

SparrowSong gasped. Being in a clan was her life. She stood there stiffly. "B- but. What about EbbPaw. He needs someone to mentor him, and we are one of the only apprentice mentor pairs that get along so nicely. And I can work on hunting and training over time! And I can take on helping around camp and taking the apprentice duties. I will sleep in the apprentices' den!" she rambled on desperately.

*Mudstripe*

I stagger to my paws, swaying slightly, but determined.
"I can walk back to my camp" I grunt. I look over at my brother, who is just sorta laying there, curled up in a corner, oblivious as to what is going on. "Goodbye brother" I sigh before turning and limping out of the den.

SparrowSong watched him leave. "He loves you and only wants the best for you." she said softly. She was still shocked about being kicked out of her clan.
