Saria lifted the baby for Sunset to see. It was a male, and looked like Cole in every way except its scales were red, and its eyes were slightly luminous. Its claws were steel.

Saerien, now in his humanoid gryphon form, stuck his head in, saying, "Saria, the eggs are hatching!"
Saria blew past Cole and Saerien, and was beside the eggs, watching them as they wobbled and cracked.

The first one freed itself from the shell, and it was a gryphon. The other climbed out, and it was a strange gryphon-dragon hybrid, with gryphonic wings, forelegs, and a beak on a draconic body.
