This was given to my father as a token of their appreciation of his father being in the war, and so it became a token given to the first son of the family born as time goes on. "

Charlotte went over to where Puyo was and sat beside her, still smiling softly. " Which story will we be reading tonight my dear? " She said softly.

Kimani smiled softly. "It must've been a great honor."
He could feel the urge to tell him burn at his heart. The urge to say that he was here, and that he didn't have to be lonely or sad. He didn't have to feel regret about leaving him at the orphanage, but would that change anything?

" It was.. The day my father gave this to me was the day I went to war.. I used to dream of giving this to my own first born but.. he is dead. " Maxwell said, a hallowed and painful tone in his voice, as though it killed him inside.. even if it wasn't true, he didn't know that..

Kimani looked to the ground. He bit his bottom lip and ground his teeth together slightly.
"He..." Kimi couldn't stop once he started. "Y-Your son. I- H-He isn't dead as you were told." He was stuttering like crazy as of now, his stomach in knots. He had to tell him. Someone who should be happy and had the chance to be happy should be given happiness. How would he tell him? Say "I'm your not dead son and the orphanage lied"? The very thought made him shudder. He dug himself into a hole eh couldn't get out of now.

Maxwell looked over to Kimani curiously, an eyebrow raised, " How do you know that? I haven't seen any trace of him in thirteen long years, and I have never seen anyone since that could prove that it is true or isn't, I have only visited the grave made for him.. " There was a little bit of hope in his voice.. but mostly sorrow.

Kimani tightened his grip on his shorts slightly.
"Thirteen years old. That's how old I am." He started as he raised a slightly trembling hand to his own chest. "I lived in an orphanage before I came to live with William. It's rare for us to know our full name, but I found out when I was younger. My full name is Kimani Taylor Hollows. The orphanage I lived at, it wasn't uncommon for the mistress to keep children. A-All of us are told our parents were dead."
He knew that wasn't enough, and he was starting to panic slightly. "William told me stories about you. A-And I wondered... And I-I know I don't have much to offer as proof..."
But he remembered something. He reached up to his ear, unfastening a woman's earring from his ear.
"This is what I was left with, when I arrived." At this point Kimani was starting to panic even more. What if he had just been hopeful and delusional?
